Lately, I have been experiencing an issue with data recording: the long activities always crash (after 4-6 hours, bike rides).

This has been happening for the last couple of months. I have always been using the latest app update release available at the moment of the activity.

I am using a Xiaomi phone, but I took good care of the instructions here:

https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918967-Troubleshooting-GPS-Issues

(disable any battery saving, high accuracy in location, etc.).

I don’t really know what is going on.

In the last few rides, I have used another tracker app (mainly as a backup), and this other app was able to complete the recording without crashing, without issues.

I enjoy Strava a lot, but these regular crashes are disappointing. I hope they can be solved, or I’ll have to move to the other tracker app.

Hi @fergarciaga,

Hard to guess what is causing this. Just to eliminate / narrow down the possible reasons, I’d suggest that you try:

• uninstall the Strava app, reboot your phone, install Strava again; if any of the app's files or data got corrupt, this should fix it

• update your Android to the latest version, apply all available patches

• double check that your phone storage isn't running low (and if needed, free up some space by deleting e.g. some unnecessary videos)

• if you had installed some new app before the crashes started happening, you might want to uninstall it temporarily to try whether it wasn't causing a conflict

Other than that, there's not much we can advise here at the community hub, sorry. If the issue persists even after doing all of the above, you might need to contact Strava Support - they should be able to analyze the crash logs and find the culprit.
Here’s how to contact the Support team - just please note that they're dealing with a backlog of tickets, so the response time might be rather longer:

Hey @Jana_S ,

Thank you for your reply with instructions.

Following them, I’ve done a mobile clean-up, plus an uninstall-reboot-install cycle.

Let’s see how it works when I have time to go for a long ride (which regrettably won’t be very soon).
