When using Strava on Apple Watch it does not record distance. It records all other parameters fine, route, heart rate, elevation etc. also when cycling or skiing it records distance just fine. I have tried reloading the app on phone and watch. Hope someone can help. Thanks

Hello @Andymadden, sorry to hear you're having trouble! Reading your post, I understand that you are using the Strava Apple Watch app to record your activities. It sounds like you are having trouble recording activities using a specific sport type: the Outdoor Walk sport type. Can you confirm whether this is indeed the sport type you are using? Or might you be using a different sport type?

Additionally, it sounds like you are also using the Strava Apple Watch app to record activities using the Outdoor Ride and possibly Alpine Ski sport types. Reading your description, it sounds like recording using the Outdoor Ride and Alpine Ski sport types provide you with finished activities that contain both a distance figure as well as GPS data as indicated by the map on the activities. Can you confirm whether this is the case? Additionally, can you confirm whether your outdoor walk activities contain GPS data?

If you have not done so already, I recommend opening the Settings app on your phone, navigating to the Apps category, locating Strava, and verifying whether the Motion and Fitness permission is enabled.

I'll keep an eye out for your reply so that we can continue exploring this situation.

Thanks, I can indeed confirm I am using the Apple Watch Strava app and for walk it doesn’t show distance but does show distance for outdoor ride and alpine ski. I can also confirm that even though it doesn’t show distance for outdoor walk it does record gps data and shows me the route once I sync  with my iPhone. I have also checked that the motion and fitness permission is enabled. Thanks again for your help

I am having the same problem.  I had to remove and reinstall Strava on my iWatch to get it work at all.  Now it records time and gets the map right, but doesn’t record distance.  The Strava app on my iPhone works just fine.  I have checked the settings suggested above and they appear to be correctly set.  I’d appreciate some help with this problem.

Follow-up to previous comment.  I took a walk this morning with Strava.  On my iWatch, I went to Settings->Health->Apps->Strava and turned on all the modes available. On my iWatch, I tested Walk, Hike, Run, and Ride.  As reported above by AndyMadden, only Ride records distance. So I seriously doubt that this is a settings problem.  Looks like a software bug to me.
