I recently had my Apple Watch Series 8 repaired for an unrelated issue (water ejection feature was not working). I had to log out of and unsync my watch prior to sending it and when I have come back to install and log in to the Strava app on my watch I am not able to complete the Sync

I have logged out on my phone, deleted the app from both my phone and watch, all to no avail. Both my phone and watch have the latest software updates for iOS and Strava

The app on my watch was working perfectly prior to sending if off, but since I have had it returned I cannot complete the log in and so cannot use it.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Hi @Jim1313, at which point do you have the login problem? Do you see any specific error message? Also, how are you logging in - could it be the one-time code login problem that people are reporting?

Morning Jana,

Once I have completed the process on my phone, I go to open the watch app and it still says that I need to complete the log in procedure on my phone.
Unfortunately there is no specific error message, and I am not asked for a one time code.
I have attached a photo of what the app looks like when I try and log in

Hello @Jim1313 - sorry to hear about the issues.

This will sometimes happen when the device tokens between your devices are mismatched. A device token mismatch can occur if the connection between your previous devices has changed.

Please try the following suggestions:

Suggestion #1

  1. Force close Strava on your Apple Watch and iPhone to confirm the applications are closed.

Just in case, here are instructions on how to Force quit a Watch app:

    A. Open the app you want to force quit.

    B. Press and hold the Dock/Side button until you see the shutdown screen.

    C. Press the Digital Crown and the active app will force quit.

  2. Access Motion & Fitness on your Apple Watch and toggle Strava Off and then back On.

Settings -> Privacy -> Motion & Fitness -> Fitness Tracking

    or

Watch app > Privacy > Fitness Tracking

  3. Open Strava on your Apple Watch followed by your iPhone.
  4. Complete Apple Watch Set-up if necessary.

Suggestion #2

  1. Use the Watch app located on your iPhone to force an uninstall of the Strava Watch app. Note that it may take some time for the app to be fully uninstalled from the Watch face.
  2. Confirm the app has been uninstalled from the Watch.
  3. Uninstall the Strava app from your iPhone.
  4. Force close all apps on the iPhone.
  5. Restart the Watch and iPhone.
  6. Download and install the Strava app on the iPhone.
  7. Confirm you are logged into the Strava app.
  8. Confirm the Strava app has been installed on the Apple Watch.
  9. Unlock the display on the iPhone and load the Strava Apple Watch app.
  10. Watch for and approve prompts on both devices.

If that doesn't help, unfortunately you'll need to set up your Apple Watch as brand new. Restoring your Apple Watch from a backup won't help in this situation as it will use the previous device token. If you continue to have issues, please open a Strava Support ticket.
