Just trying out Strava and am really surprised that this functionality still does not exist.  Really no point in paying for the app when I can just continue using the iphone workout app with levels for analysis.  Hope you get this fixed in the future, will be cancelling after the trial.

Why is it always advised here that there are other ways? Or you can use a heart rate sensor from another manufacturer. But that is not the point. It should be possible to record the tour with the iOS app and use the Apple Watch as a heart rate sensor. I wonder what the problem is here? Is it so difficult to programme?

Yeah, all that three has going for it is that it beats nothing. As long as we keep pounding on this thread 🤣

No, it’s not helpful information. Why don’t you stop copy/pasting the same answer and tell us *why* the Strava iPhone can’t display heart data from the Apple Watch?

Ok, so now that iOS 17 and Watch OS 10 are out, you can start an Apple workout on the watch, and the Apple workout pops up on your phone, showing all kinds of info, *including* heart rate.

Tell me, why I should renew my Strava subscription?

I am seriously thinking about going back to RunKeeper which has been able to do this for years.

Seriously? I have heard so many good things about Strava that I just signed up to give it a try. I have been using Runkeeper for years, and it is totally able to use the Apple Watch heart rate sensor when recording activities on the iPhone app (by having the Runkeeper app open on the Apple Watch at the same time). This really needs to be fixed.

Any news on this or do I need to go back to RunKeeper?

Yes, I do that and resubscribed to the otherwise great Strava app. Now it is winter and my arms are covered = no heart rate visible. I just canceled my subscription. Will try runkeeper.

Just cancelled the subscription, I don’t want to have to use other apps or buy new equipment to do what the iOS built in app will do. I liked the mapping but that can be done with other apps I already use. I wanted Strava to be able to have everything all in one place but that does not seem to be a priority for the company at the moment.

Not only does Runkeeper do this, Cadence does this. We just want to see our heart rate on the phone without needing to buy a second heart rate sensor when so many of us are wearing the Apple watch already. (I do it while riding).

Would be really great if it WAS possible to use the Apple Watch as just a heart rate monitor for Strava on iPhone. Works great for Runkeeper - and is one of the big advantages for iphone/iwatch users to select Runkeeper over Strava.

The moderator just keeps posting the same tired response. No update on implementing  this simple fix!

I use the Training App from the Apple Watch. Newer models can mirror the data from the watch on the iphone. After the training they are automatically imported on strava.

Well, not perfect, but it works until strava/Apple get their homework done.

For cadence I need to keep my Wahoo Elemnt record, and if I want Heart rate I have to record on Strava on my Apple Watch at the same time. Then after I have to find which is the Apple Watch workout, screenshot it and add it to my Wahoo workout, then delete the Apple Watch one or it throws all my aggregate distances/workouts off. As a result I get multiple challenge completed texts and emails regularly and It’s a colossal waste of time and a nuisance. Strava, Apple Health and Wahoo have the data and other apps have proved that they can be collated into one record. Please stop being proprietary and add this function, or even better give us the option to include each element of the data these three connected, iPhone-interfacing Bluetooth devices record.

This sucks, Nike Run Club is able to do this, I want to use Strava but guess I have to wait 🙄

Been a long time strava customer. I just bought an apple watch ultra and i'm shocked to see the apple watch heart monitor is not actually compatible with strava. I was kind of taking it for granted, since both have such a big reputation on the sportsy world. Now I seem to have to record twice my trainings,  with apple watch + strava and holding my phone (for routes, strava on Apple watch won't give directions either), to get some very basic features. What a shame.

I'll start look for alternatives, it's been ages since I used runkeeper, and honestly it pisses me off having to change platform, but it seems this is how it going to be and don't really see any indication of change here

That is such a basic feature that strava is missing and a dealbreaker for me. And it’s 2024 and feature is still not added…..

What's frustrating is that this has been tagged as resolved.

Errr NOPE - this is now a significant feature request that literally nearly all other apps can do and people are leaving Strava due to a lack of progress/engagement

When my Subs end will prob move back to RK
