Hi @ScottOxford
Thanks for posting about this. If you’re using the Strava Mobile App on your Pixel phone to record your activity, you would need to pair a compatible heart rate sensor to the Strava App directly in order to see heart rate data in the activity.
I’m not sure if your Pixel Watch can be paired to the Strava App or not, but if it can be set to broadcast as a heart rate monitor for Bluetooth connections, it should be discoverable when you open the heart rate screen. However, due to the vast number of Bluetooth heart rate monitor devices, we cannot guarantee the effectiveness of each device.
I see some information on the Google Support site that may be helpful here: https://support.google.com/fitbit/answer/14236705
To pair a compatible heart rate monitor to the App:
- Open the Strava mobile application and select Record from the bottom navigation bar.
- On the record screen, select the heart rate icon along the bottom row of icons.
- Wake your Bluetooth heart rate monitor or enable HR broadcasting (please follow the recording device manufacturer’s manual) so it may be discovered in the list of recording devices.
- Select your heart rate monitor from the list of available devices. Once connected, your heart rate will be displayed live on the record screen.
You can learn more about pairing a Bluetooth device on our support page here:

The other option you have is to record your activities using the Strava App on your Pixel watch instead of the phone; however as you pointed out, you won’t be able to use the audio distance cues.
I hope this information is helpful!
