I tracked my run today using my samsung fit 3 as the start of the run was in a location without cellphone reception. My fit 3 recorded my distance as 12.06 km (which by my calculations is correct) but it uploaded to Strava with a distance of 14.87km. How do I correct this and how do I stop it from occurring again?
Hi
How to correct - open the activity on the Strava website (as the option isn't available in the mobile app), then in the menu on the left, click the three dots, and then Correct Distance. This will recalculate the distance based on Strava's map data (and if you don't like the result, you can revert this afterwards).
And how to prevent this in the future - by using a watch with a reliable GPS (e.g. Apple Watch, Coros, Garmin, to name a few). These don't need cellphone signal, you just need unobstructed view of the skies for the satellite connection. From the parameters I've found online, the Samsung Fit 3 doesn't have GPS at all, so it will never be too reliable, I suppose it's just estimating the distance based on steps.
