I consistently have wrong readings. My Apple Watch Ultra is very precise with measuring elevation. Strava is off by 50%. Why can it not simply use the data provided by the watch? All analysis like SAT is of as well (obviously). This makes Strava in-usable. A Fenix user has same height data as the Apple Watch Ultra. So it is a Strava problem. AW: 485m, Strava: 324m

I'm also having exactly the same issue. Strava keeps increasing the elevation of activities (hikes, runs, rides) that I record on my Apple watch and are then imported to Strava.

Hi Jane,

I'm having trouble with Strava increasing the elevation of activities that are recorded on my Apple watch (with the Fitness app) and then imported to Strava. This is happening with runs, hikes, walks and rides. It's pretty frustrating and I'm not sure what's causing it to happen. Thanks for looking into this!

I record on my Apple Watch 7 and transfer to Strava.  Strava almost always reports elevation not by double, but by a factor of TEN. I recently walked along a beach, at ocean edge.  Strava says I had a 30 ft elevation gain.  I was at SEA LEVEL the entire time.  No elevation gain!!!  This should not be hard Strava. Fix it!

In today’s news…  17 mile ride on Kiawah Island. Pretty flat.  Apple Workout says 28 ft elevation gain.  Strava says 448 ft! Starva is 16 time higher than it should be.  FIX THIS. Let us import correct data!

As of this week, I still have this problem. I have to fix the elevation data for every single ride, and I ride 3-5 times a week. With tens of millions of Apple Watch out there, I imagine this should be a priority for Strava to fix. Can someone from Strava give an update on the plan to address this issue?

Hi, I’ve noticed the same issue, and it’s incredibly frustrating. The elevation gain shown on the Strava app when using an Apple Watch is completely inaccurate. What drives me crazy is that the elevation data on the Apple Fitness app is correct and aligns closely with the data from my wife’s Garmin.

Strava, please consider using the elevation data directly from the Fitness app without altering it unnecessarily. While I know you can adjust elevation using Strava’s map correction feature, even that doesn’t yield accurate results.

This issue makes the Apple Watch feel almost unusable for anyone accustomed to Garmin devices or for those who care about accurate Strava records. It’s truly disappointing and baffling to see such a glaring problem persist.
