NYRR Account Link

I had a Strava account that I previously had linked to my NYRR account.

For some reason when I got a new Garmin and set it up, I created a new Strava account through my Apple ID, which is different than the old account I had.

I did not realize I had 2 separate accounts until this week when I went to see why I wasn’t receiving credit for the NYRR Resolution Run.

I can see the NYRR Resolution Run as a challenge on my old Strava account, however I unlinked my NYRR from that account, and re-linked it to my new Strava account, where I do not see the Resolution Run as a challenge.

When I search for the NYRR Resolution Run through my new Strava account, it asks me to re-register, which I don’t feel like I should have to do since I’ve already re-linked my NYRR account to my new Strava account.

I’ve reached out to Strava support and NYRR support, NYRR pointed me to Strava, who provided me with a generic response to check out the articles on their support page.
Does anyone know what I can do to get the challenge to pull into my new account so I can get the credit for completing the race as I registered and paid for the premium tier?

If this NYRR Resolution Run is a Strava challenge then you have to register to it again with the new Strava account.

I appreciate the response Jan.

Unfortunately, I am unable to re-register. When I go through NYRR to pay again, it tells me I have already registered. Strava seems to be the platform not recognizing my previous registration despite linking my new Strava account to NYRR where my registration is.

Does this mean this is not about a Strava challenge but an internal challenge in NYRR? Why would Strava know anything about that? If you want to use your new Strava account from now on you have to unlink your old Strava account from your NYRR account and then link your new Strava account to the NYRR account.

Depending on how much activities you had in your old Strava account it would be even better to abandon this new Strava account you didn’t want in the first place. That means you have to change the Strava linking in your Garmin account to your old Strava account. After that the past Garmin activities should sync automatically to your old Strava account and from there to NYRR.
