Can someone help me understand what is going on.  With my last 2 runs, total distance on the watch and what uploads to fitbit is correct as well as total time. But in fitbit app, the total time is correct and total distance, but the split times and distance are incorrect. If i export the TCX file from my fitbit app and upload to strava the total distance is incorrect as well as the splits with a moving time of 47:20, which is pretty similar to the fitbit splits added up.  Fitbit doesn’t display “moving time” but shows total time (correct) with the splits (incorrect).  The maps in both fitibit and strava appear correct from what i can tell.  If i take the same TCX file and upload it to https://activity-analyzer.app/html/ I don’t see any obvious gaps, and total distance is correct.

Where do you think the problem is?

I’m adding some screenshots showing oddities form the fitbit app, strava and the activity analyzer site i used, and if you want me to send you the TCX file exported out of fitbit app form below example, let me know.

Hello @Flick

Thanks for your post.

I can’t provide any insights on the how Fitbit analyzes and displays your data, but on Strava, we calculate your splits based on your moving time. For run activities, Strava calculates your moving time based on your activity's GPS locations, distance, and speed. The exception to this if you use your pause button and in that case we respect the moving time calculation directly from the device instead. If you are not using your pause button, we are using your GPS data to calculate your moving time. If recorded GPS data has some inaccuracies, this can lead to inaccuracies in both your moving time and your split times.

In some situations you can change the distance that is shown for your activity. Changing the distance stream may also update the pace or duration of an activity. You could try that, as it may help in this kind of a scenario:

To swap your distance stream:

  • Go to your activity page on the website (this feature is currently not accessible in our mobile apps)
  • From the activity page click on (◦◦◦) the more options menu > Correct Distance.
  • From the pop-up, click "Correct Distance".
  • When the status changes from "Calculating" to "Updated," refresh the page.

If you would like to revert the change, you can click the same link and click "Revert Distance".

For more information, see our article on How distance is calculated for your activity.
