Hi there,

I have done an interval training indoors using a Body Bike which I connected to my Garmin Edge 840. I have Garmin Connect connected to Strava so the activity is uploaded there automatically. I was wearing a garmin heart rate monitor and the heart rate data of the activity was stored and visible in both Garmin Connect and Strava. However, Strava does not calculate the relative effort for this activity. It is 0.

Because I cycled indoor, the distance is 0.03 km (it is basically drift of the GPS). My first hypothesis is that the distance is affecting the relative effort, but perhaps any one of you has a better idea?

Thanks in advance,

Joris

PS here is the link to the activity: https://www.strava.com/activities/15228131292

The exact same thing happens to me when uploading an indoor activity from a BSC200S — all the data is complete, but Strava isn't able to calculate the Relative Effort and doesn't show the zone analysis either.

If GPS data is mixed in an indoor activity AND Strava was responsible for determing the distance then only the part were someone seems to have moved counts for the Relative Effort. Possible solutions are:

  • In case the Strava web browser function “Correct Distance” was used it has to be reverted.
  • Delete the activity and upload the activity again as file but strip the file from GPS data first. This can be done i.e. with the FitFileTools in https://www.fitfiletools.com/#/stripper#view where you can remove location, distance, speed and altitude from a file.
  • Don’t record indoor activities with GPS enabled for future activities.

Thanks!!! That it's. I deleted GPS data and working very well. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions @Jan_Mantau , I will give this a try when I'm behind my laptop again.

Tried it by removing location, speed, disrtance and altitude and it looks good now. Thanks for the help.
