Ski lift data not separated correctly in Strava import from Slopes

When I sync my ski activity from Slopes to Strava, the lift ascents are being counted as ski runs. In Slopes, runs and lifts are correctly separated, but Strava merges them, which inflates total distance, time, and elevation stats. It seems Strava isn’t recognizing Slopes’ lift/run data properly.

Strava’s response on the issue was:

“Normally when an activity file is uploaded, the distance you see is based on the distance stream data recorded in the file. I've taken a look at the .FIT file that was uploaded from Slopes for that activity, and unfortunately, there was no distance stream included in the file.

Since no distance stream was included in the file, the distance data throughout the activity is cal calculated using the available GPS data that was provided.

Garmin set the industry standard with FIT and TCX file formatting (read more here and here). Strava uses Garmin's file formats in order to upload and analyze the data in your file. If your app isn't following these standards or if the company has made file formatting modifications to accommodate device or app specific features, then we may not be able to correctly parse the files. This could lead to differences in your activity stats when compared between platforms.”
