This happens with about 5% of my mountain bike rides - I create a route from my existing ride, sometimes I edit it and sometimes I just save it as the ride is. It seems that at random, some routes don’t sync to Garmin despite being starred and running on existing trails in the map. If I duplicate them the same issue occurs even when I add slight editing.

The tell-tale sign for these routes: there’s only a “Delete” option when I hover over their 3 dots in the “My routes” desktop screen. If I click on them, I can edit them, but that option doesn’t appear for them from that screen, as it appears for the rest of the routes. This seems to happen at random to about 1 out of 20 routes.

Has anyone ran across this and have a reason or workaround?

Sorry for the troubles! Unfortunately, we have not encountered other athletes with this issue, but if you could write in to our helpdesk we can take a look at your routes and see what could be causing the issue.
