Strava doesn’t synch with Samsung Health

I have a Samsung S22 phone and now I bought a Galaxy Watch 6. I was using a Garmin watch to synch my running to Strava and no issues. So I followed the steps to connect Samsung Health to Strava: logged in Samsung Health and went to settings and added Strava as a service to connect to. Then the Strava log in popped and I logged in and authorized the connection within Strava.

The problem is Samsung Health does not show on the Services list, so it seems Strava does not recognize Health as being connected, whereas Health “sees” Strava.

Meanwhile, I tried going for a quick walk with the Samsung watch and it synched to Strava, though the map information is not available. Still, Samsung Health does not show up on Strava’s Services. Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

thanks!

Hello @Neuza

Thanks for posting about this.  Android users can upload activities recorded with the Samsung Health app to Strava and automatically sync activities from Strava to Samsung Health.  If I'm understanding correctly, you're able to sync activities from Samsung Health to Strava, but not the other way around?

I'm also having the same issue.

The informative on how to connect your Samsung Galaxy watch with Strava does not work for me. Samsung Health Data does not sync to Strava, making staving useless to me.

I am yet to find a resolving as to how to sync it. It's driving me nuts! I've followed the instructions over and over again and I'm just going on circles.

Any advice?

I am also having the exact same problem. The strava instructions do not work.

Same problem for me, and it's both ways.

I have the same problem. Strava activities don't show in S Health, I recorded through the strava app on my Samsung watch.

For me Samsung health doesn't synch to strava anymore since about 9 days ago. Before it worked. The activity shows in Samsung health but doesn't synch to strava.

Reinstalled all apps, Samsung health, wear and strava. Disconnected all accounts and reconnect again. Nothing seems to work.

This is an ongoing issue for me.  Did you fix your problem?

No. gave up and stopped using strava because of it.

We now think it is because of the GPS on the watch is not working. Because of that there is no route known to Samsung health. And that's why SH does not sync with strava. Bought a garmin now.

The Samsung watch is going for repair to see what's wrong with it.

Hello everyone. I have had the same issue, when using the Strava app on my Samsung Galaxy Watch, completing the activity and waiting for it to be synced to Samsung Heath. But I have found a solution, which works for me.

By downloading the Health Sync app, I am able to do an automatic data transfer between two (or more) apps, which normally doesn't support each other or if the integration is broken. This has helped me transfer my Strava activities to the Samsung Health app.  See screenshots below:

I know it is not the perfect way, and the orginial integration between the two apps should work. But this is a great work around. 🙂

Thank you so much for that! But i noticed that when i did sync the 2 apps together i did get the numbers for it but not the map that i ran.  i want the map because my friends wanted to see where i  ran to lol

Hello Kotallo! It sounds weird, but the map is being sync from my Strava to Samsung Health, when I have been using the integration. I am not sure how to solve it, but I guess it can relate to some privacy issues. Although it worked for me, when I have started the activity through the Galaxy Watch and waited for an active GPS signal. Maybe that can be the case as well?

I have had similar issues with a twist:

-samsung health syncs my rides to Strava, but none of my other activities when recorded with my Galaxy 6 watch.

-nothing from strava syncs to Samsung Health.

-Have not tried to run both Apps at the same time for any workout except riding, in which case both platforms record the ride data (and the samsung watch ride data is transfered to strava and the ride shows up duplicated in Strava). Guess i'll check and see if other workouts will duplicate as well. However, running two Apps simultaneously when they are supposed to sync with each other is hardly a reasonable workaround.

Hi sdmm01.

Please see my other comment with a workaround in order to sync between the two apps. Might help you. 😀

Same issue for me. I have been using Strava for awhile. I have only just setup the Health App to sync with Strava, went for run using Strava to record it. But nothing seems to sync to Health App.

S21+, Watch 6, latest updates..

I will try it the other way tomorrow to see if that works. However I am happy to be using Strava as the recording app but would like the data to be synced with Samsung.

How is this an Accepted Solution?

It's a question.  You don't provide any solution to the above issue that seemingly few people have. I don't understand this.

Thank you.

I have the same issue. If I recorded an activity using the Strava app on my watch it won't sync to the Samsung Health

Moreover, the problem persists. When I record activities on Strava with my TomTom watch, they take a few days to sync to Samsung health. Since last week no syncing has occurred.

I don't know if the issue is on Strava's or on Samsung's end, but it's a weird issue to have in 2024.
