I’ve used Strava with an Apple Watch for several years and it has worked flawlessly, until recently.

I use the app to track “Workout” activity while working out with kettlebells. All it needs to do is track heart rate. Because of the way kettlebells move, I flip the watch around so that it’s on the inside of my wrist, and about three inches above where I normally wear it. This worked fine for about the first 18 months that I did it this way. Anytime I would look at the watch face, the app would be active, time accurate, heart rate being tracked, etc.

In the last few months, the app seems to shut down during workouts. Many times when I look at the face, the watch hands are showing and the app has disappeared. If I push the watch crown and tap on the app icon, it usually re-appears and picks up where it left off. Sometimes doing this just starts it over from zero.

When I look at the data from a workout, there are lengthy periods where heart rate was obviously not being tracked.

This does not happen with other activity types where I keep the watch normally oriented on my wrist… hiking or cycling… no problem.

I assume the issue here is that the HRM doesn’t like looking at the inside of my wrist. Not sure why it worked for so long and now rarely works for more than maybe 10-15 minutes.

Hi @davidmeiland, what you described sounds like the following issue - Strava is already aware, hopefully they'll fix it soon...
