Strava using incorrect data from Apple Watch

I‘m using my Apple Watch on a treadmill which allows the Watch connection to gym equipment, i.e. the Apple watch data such as heart rate is displayed on the treadmill monitor, and the treadmill data (such as speed) is synched to the Apple Watch.

When I review the data in Apple Fitness, I see the correct data, especially the average time/km for every km. The overall time/km is also correctly shown.

When I review the data in Strava, the average time/km for every km is incorrect. The overall time/km is correct.

It appears that Strava gets the calculated time/km from Apple (the data the watch would assume when not connected to the treadmill) instead of the synched data from the treadmill.

First Strava data (second picture with wrong data), then Apple data:

Hi @Wildsparrow, I suspect this could have something to do with Strava possibly considering the treadmill data to be “not Apple data” and it won't sync them from Health… as Strava would only sync activity data recorded directly with the Apple Workout app. 🤔

You could try using some 3rd party app as a workaround instead of direct import from Health, such as RunGap, or any other that you prefer:

https://www.strava.com/apps/data-importer

I.e. you’d go Health > [data importer app] > Strava. I think it should work, but unfortunately don't have data to test it (I do use RunGap but don't really do treadmills… and the nearby gym doesn't even have gymkit supporting equipment 😕)

Hi @Jana_S
Thanks for your quick reply and suggestion.

Unfortunately, the Run-gap app only imports Apple Health Data up to 27th December 2023 (no newer data), although I have dozens/hundreds of newer data. Trying to re-import the data did not add any newer data.
On the other side, Run-gap imports the Strava data till today, so I would rule out a synching issue.

I am not sure if this is related to the fact that my Apple Watch SE only supports watchOS 10.5 (no newer update available for this model).

I´ll try another data-importer app the coming days.

Hmm that's odd - just to double check, could you have a date filter set for the Health account? (Accounts & Settings > Apple Health > Advanced Settings > Skip Activities Before / After). I’m asking because it's a bit hidden and non-intuitive, and I remember that some time ago I’ve forgotten that I had set a date filter (to limit the amount of data processed at once), figuring that out costed me some grey hair 😀 I keep using RunGap to sync data from Health to Runalyze and to Garmin Connect, so it technically should work (but I do have iOS/WatchOS 26).
