On my old smartwatch (Fossil Gen6) I got problems with Strava Wear OS after the update to Wear OS 3.5, that the GPS won`t lock when starting Strava, now I`ve upgraded to the brand new Oneplus Watch 3, with Wear OS 5 installed, and the same problem is still there with no GPS lock with Strava. If I try with Google Fit, Google Maps, or some other training app, the GPS locks in in a few seconds, but Strava will not lock in at all. I`ve been in contact with Fossil several times but they stopped answering when they realized that they can`t fix the problem, and the same with Strava support, no answer after they realize that they can`t fix it.

Because the problem is still there with a new watch of a different brand, and that the GPS works fine with any other app that I try, I´m almost certain that the problem must lie with the Starva app, and that is talked about in many other places when searching online for a solution to the problem,.

So, is there anyone that has a solution to the GPS problem, or is it up to Strava to release an update that fix this issue, but that doesn`t seeme to happen because it`sbeen like this for a couple of years now?

Second problem, when starting Strava on the watch you get to the start meny where you can choose between Run, Ride, and Walk, andthe fourth button takes you to the complete list of activities, the problem is that the Run, Ride, and Wallk button doesnt start theese activities, instead you get to the complete list of activities and you have to search through all of them to start the one you want, and that list isn`t in alphabetic order so it`s a pain to find what you want.

Third one, in that activity list on the watch (and on the phone), it would be nice to be able to only show the ones that you use so you don`t have to scroll past and search for the one you want in the complete list of activities.

Hey Belse, currently the issue of selecting a sport from the tile only opening the entire workout list is a known issue that we are working to resolve.

As for the GPS issues, try toggling the location permission on your watch to resolve the issue:

Can you please go into Settings app on your watch

  • Select Applications
  • Then permissions
  • Select Strava app
  • Toggle the Location permission off then on again

Other suggestions:

  • Turn location off/on on your watch
  • Switch between GPS and Wifi to GPS Only
  • Disconnect the watch from your phone and switch between a few GPS activities (Hike, Run, etc.) while standing outside for a minute or so to try and get GPS engaged.
