I forgot to turn off the Garmin after a 3 mile walk. Due to inaccuracies the GPS still records distance over time, even though the watch was sitting on my desk, so after 11 hours it gave me an  18 mile distance total. I knew how to trim the invalid distance off my log record, but the activity still shows a ribbon for my longest walk, which is not correct, my longest walk was 12 miles two years ago. I don’t know where to look for records of my longest distances or how to correct that it has the invalid 18 miles as my longest walk. I realize that it could be that it just takes time for the corrected data to automatically change what is my longest distance, so maybe this will fix itself.

Coupla guesses here:
1.) On the activity page (web), click on the three dots, then click "refresh activity achievements".  Give it a few mins to work.
2.) If that fails, change activity type to something else (anything... hackey sack, foosball, hula hoop, doesn't matter.)  Then change it back to walk.
We have to do things like that in cycling to sometimes straighten out segment rankings.

Refreshing activity achievements did not seem to do anything, but changing activity type and then changing it back took off the ribbon! But I still don’t know how to check what’s recorded as my records..

On your profile page look under "my stats" on the right hand side.  You may have to click on the shoe icon of the four available.  Best distance, time, and elevation should appear.
