Up until recently, when I shared a run, the image with stats would retain its aspect ratio. This seems to be no longer the case (in the last week).
For example, here is my latest run, ready to share;
However, when I post or even save the image, it is cropped to the portrait aspect ratio.
This has only happened recently, as I have been sharing in the same way every time. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Happening to me as well, really annoying because it cuts the image
Happening to me too. Any Strava community managers or devs know how to roll this back?
This is such a stupid change. iPhone 13 Pro. I can‘t use the sharepic with the map, because I can‘t even see the complete track.. QA team must be on vacation during those updates?
same here. IMHO this is a bug that has to be changed back. Original upload image dimensions need to be kept intact for the sharepic!
I have experienced this issue and hope Strava can fix. The image that is displayed in the “Share Activity” preview ought to match the image that is exported/shared. I would also vote in favor of not cropping “landscape” orientation images.
I just encountered this for the first time. It’s so annoying. If I save an image it should be the same aspect ratio and orientation displaying in the app. Please fix this.
I hope the strava PMs or Devs see this and decide to revert the change OR AT LEAST give the user the option to choose the aspect ratio they want to export their run image in. I don’t know how long I can take this.
I have the following ticket Strava ticket #3244470,
with the following response
We’re aware of this new implementation, where maps are now displayed in a 9:16 aspect ratio. This is not a bug but an expected change due to recent updates. However, we will share your feedback with our engineering team, noting that you preferred the previous 1:1 format.

So it's really intentional Not the best news but thanks for posting!

Thanks for the sharing. Even if the aspect ratio of exported maps and images was intentionally standardized, the previews should be updated to reflect this. As it stands, the preview is not an accurate representation of what is exported--much of the map/image ends up getting cropped out.
Same issue here for me as well. Quite annoying if it is not a bug
definitely annoying! strava team pls fix :’)
Yep, this is awful, no point sharing rides anymore, though I’m noticing it isn’t affecting everyone?
It is a bug not a feature, photos and also map tracks are cropped. I do not really like the previous version, please revert it, or give an options to user to select between 16:9 ratio and original dimensions.
I think this is a bug. Displaying square before exporting, and when you save the map or export directly to Instagram, it crops the map and you can’t even see the full map.
The PM who made that choice owe us a beer. It terrible to force such a crop.
I’ve run into this issue.
I honestly don’t understand what the approver was thinking when they decided to drop this image sharing feature. I sincerely hope this was just a bug and not an intentional change. Please bring back the image sharing functionality as it existed in previous versions — removing it is a major step backward.

Exactly. I submitted another ticket, maybe it gets picked up so they actually fix this (at some point). How this can be live for over a month without any change is beyond me. Seems like the staff is not using their own product. Have I mentioned I canceled my Premium subscription?

It’s disappointing. I mean, at least for premium subscribers the support should be better. It really seems like they are not using their own platform.
This decision was absolutely abhorrent. Nothing quite like exporting a photo to send to your friends and having it in an aspect ratio that cuts of all of the relevant information when shared via messages. Nobody wants to fullscreen an obnoxious 16:9 run map to see my metrics when I text them a photo. It would be fine to include this as an option. But it should absolutely not be the only option. Trying to go through support has netted me exactly 0 real interaction.
Well, I'm back doing the old way while they are playing: cutting a screenshot.
