We appreciate your time and patience. a recent feature seems to have filtered heatmaps based on the sport type when routing. i suspect that this is broadly a great feature, but it has now made gravel routing very difficult because of the data sparsity (a large % of people don't select "gravel ride" on their activities, most rides aren't gravel anyways, etc.). plus there's so much overlap in gravel and road routes anyways, so aggregating that data makes sense imo. the road heatmaps work great here, but the only way to get them to show up is to change the sport type to road cycling, which affects the routing. I prefer to use "gravel ride" as the sport to get good autorouting ("prefer dirt" has its issues since it
Dear Strava (and users),I am getting increasingly annoyed by the many irrelevant postings I experience in my Dashboard between activities. How do I get rid of or disable these?To explain: My Dashboard is my goto page when opening Strava. Normally, I will have my latest activity at the top but below that I have to scroll, scroll and scroll to get to my next activity, past a great number of posts on Gravel, How to get in shape, Tour de France and what-have-you-not... This is deeply irritating as I check in to analyse and compare activities, not to get in shape or because I don't know who won what race.I could accept my Dashboard being contaminated if my "Activity Feed" was clean as I could then just go to that page. But this page shows exactly the same as my Dashboard - so what is the meaning of having an explicit activity page if it is also contaminated?At the very least a "Show"/"Do not show" button would be nice.I recognise that my clubs "need" to push ads and weird stuff, I signed up
Hi, I am trying to get a sense of what's going on with an old friend who I am estranged from. Their strava profile is set to private but a search shows numbers of activities cycling / runs unchanged for the last six months. Does this definitely mean they no longer using strava. I guess I am a little worried as thewy have had health issues before and unsure if numbers always update.
Is there a way to remove a user from the app. I can delete all the user data from my side, but I can't remove their subscription from strava (from what I can see this isn't possible).I am geting events for users that have been removed and I dont need to have those events.Maybe I am missing something, I would appreciate any help/advice.

We've been experiencing consistent 403 errors (rate limit exceeded) since August 15th, despite consuming only 10% of our daily API quota. Our usage graph shows an inexplicable spike of 100x our normal traffic, resulting in both daily and 15-minute limit breaches. We've paused all API requests, but the graph continues to display high usage.An attached screenshot illustrates the anomalous activity. We suspect a potential DDoS attack is artificially inflating our usage. Has anyone else encountered similar issues? Any guidance or support would be greatly appreciated.
Calories burned is available when using the getActivityById call but not when using the getLoggedInAthleteActivities call. I am using the API to generate a dataset with ALL of my Strava activities and having calories available for the historic dataset would be ideal. Am I missing something or is there a reason calories have been omitted from the getLoggedInAthleteActivities call?Thanks!
Hi,I'm working on registering my app for push subscription and when I run the post request outlined here I receive 400 status and this:{"message": "Bad Request","errors": [{"resource": "PushSubscription","field": "callback url","code": "not verifiable"}]}I'm able to get 200 status and the required hub.challenge to return if I hit the callback_url from 1) python requests & 2) curl. Then when I run the post (push subscriptions request) either with Python requests or curl, I receive the above error. Checking my server, I do not receive anything from Strava in this. Its like the callback url is blocked before Strava sends anything to it and I get the above error within 1 second, when it should be waiting 2 seconds for a response.My server is running a flask api with nginx proxying api calls to the flask server. Could this be causing issues?Does anyone else have any ideas for what I can check out? I'm operating at a .ai domain. Anything I should be aware of there?Python:url =

This is not a post for asking for help, but rather to vent my frustration about Strava's lack about basic features:- Why are there no turn-by-turn directions for a pre-planned route either with audio cues or some sort of display on my smartwatch? Or even better: Why not both?-Why does the app on my smartwatch not work in unison with the app on the phone? Meaning, if I start a workout on my phone, why isn't the same workout simultaneously displayed on my smartwatch?- Which brings me to my next point: Why are there no cues for entering and leaving a certain puls zone?-Why is there not a save button at the bottom of the editing page after you finish your workout? You always run the risk of deleting your workout because of it.-Why can't you upload non-GPS workouts from other apps to Strava?-Why can't you turn off GPS for certain activities? For example: It doesn't make sense to have GPS turned on during swimming in a pool since GPS is by far not accurate enough to track your lanes properly
When I'm uploading an activity using a GPX file, I would very much like to set the sport type correctly. Otherwise it seems like a convoluted method just to update that type. For some reason the activity just ends up being a run. Any thoughts?

Iphone language danish. Written text in Strava app is danish. All good there - I am danish !The text in the Strava app for the artificial voice still seem to be in english. So english words pronounced by a danish speaking artificial voice. Example: "Nine" is a number in english text. When pronounced in english it sounds correct (najn), but "nine" pronounced with a danish speaking voice is "nee-ne". It is neither english nor danish and as such not understandable. So: When IOS is danish, the written text in Strava app is also danish. The artificial voice tries to speak danish, but is clearly served an english string of words to be pronounced with a fat danish accent. Not good !
Hi, I'm using a huawei smartwatch and it syncs with strava. I was using running mode when I was taking a break I paused via smart watch, but strava didn't detect the pause and strava continued to detect me moving. Should I enable auto pause mode on the strava app?
I recently needed to create a second strava api application because I need API access on two different subdomains, but it's incredibly limited with the Number of athletes allowed to connect being capped at 1. As far as I can tell, nowhere on the 'My API Application' page is there a link to apply for actual API access, which is incredibly frustrating from a developer experience standpoint. Still, I filled out the Strava’s Developer Program form that I received in my email. This was almost a month ago, and I haven't received a response of any kind yet. If I've been denied, that's again frustrating from a DX standpoint--I'm only looking to use a different subdomain on an app that's already been verified. It's also obviously pretty disrespectful to not have an email sent letting me know that I've been denied. In general, information about this stuff seems hard to come by, and I don't think it should be that way.

Hello everyone!I have a question regarding when a user authorizes an application linked to strava to get his data and based on that, you get the id of the athlete of that user, his accesstoken and refresh token.My question is, when a user accepts the terms of the application he is joining, if he previously linked to another application, the tokens of that previous application will have expired, right? Because when it is linked to the new application it generates both new access token and refresh.Is there no way to persist minimizing the same refresh?Or any way to access the information of a user without the tokens of that same user?Perhaps using the tokens listed in the API config?The documentation always talks about the authenticated user, but in cases where a user is linked to several applications, it is difficult to always have the tokens due to the rotation that is generated when linking to a new application.
Good morning,I'm trying to obtain the times of each user on a segment, but it's not being possible. Firstly, because if I have the user log in on my platform to exchange the access token, I get an error that only one person can be connected. So, I conducted a test by making this request: https://www.strava.com/api/v3/segment_efforts?segment_id=35310022&start_date_local=2022-05-21T00:00:00Z&end_date_local=2022-05-21T23:59:59Z&per_page=3, which is executed correctly but I had to use the user's access token by creating an API in their profile... and obviously, for my program, I don't want that, to obtain the segment_effort. I would like to know if there would be a possibility to take the times of each user from a segment created with my user acting as an API, specifically using my own Strava API. Always assuming that the user has public visibility.Or what possible solutions are there for this problem.Thank you.
I'm leveraging Strava for displaying my user data, including the profile photo.The profile photo url that's returned is unique to the photo, so it's not updating the photo it returns automatically.What I figured, then, was that I could just listen to inbound events from the Webhooks and update the Photo URL reference on subscribed users, but I don't seem to be getting any events for user profile updates. Am I missing something? If not, it would be GREAT to have a permanent, static profile url that I just continue to reference.
This is great that the Heatmaps on the main maps works, but how come we can't see all of our activities while creating a route?For example I can see everywhere I've ever been when just viewing the map, but when in the Route Creator I can only see one sport layer at a time. Can we please add the selection option that is "all sports" like there is in the Heatmap?This is the heatmap, it has the option to see every sport type. There should be that same option while creating routes!
Bad request when registering a push subscription. I checked output of my url and get the 200 with correct response within miliseconds. Could this be because my api is accessible over ipv6 only? ( no ipv4 available.. ) Cheers

Hi Developers, I am want to show static image for the path of the activity done by strava users. Through strava api I get two polylines one is for summary and other is complete. Now how can I show the path using mapbox as I have used static map api but not working. Is there anything regarding the URL encoding or decoding? Hello,I use a subscription to webhook on my webapp and it works very fine, but i have a question about this use case:- a user in my app decides to deauthorize Strava.- i do some stuff on its account (unset stored data for this user like athlete id, token, refresh token, expiration timestamp...)- in the same time i post to Strava API POST https://www.strava.com/oauth/deauthorizewith required data for this user.At this step all is working fine. The deauthorization for this user is done.But, few seconds later i also receive strava webhook event on my callback subscription url to inform me about the deautorization!My understanding of webhook is Strava is posting events to my app when an event for an account registered to my app is happening not in my app but in Strava.So my question is why Strava triggers this event when the deauthorization is starting from my app.Thanks a lot for your reply.Joel (from France ;))
