When looking at your last 3 month graph in your profile and you've had an injury, it just looks like you haven’t done anything. Add a little Cross icon to the timeline when injured. You can even take it as far as suggesting remedies and care to speed up the recovery process.

great idea, even to add niggles or to have it implanted with Stravas own Recovery app as it has graphs showing how the injury is improving.

Hi Strava Team,

I think it will be great to add a Recovery Challenge every month using the Strava Recover App.

  • Athletes don't recover enough until it's too late
  • Athletes get injured, then stop using Strava
  • The Recover App is available for all athletes but it is not an ingrained habit
  • The Recovery Challenge will gamify recovery using Recover App making it more likely athletes will practice recovery. It should be a 5 Hour Recovery Challenge. If athletes can do 15 minutes a day over 20 days, then they complete the challenge.
  • Lottery to win a Strava foam roller, massage gun, or yoga mat or other brand products
  • In the future, it will be great if recovery videos are plugged directly into strava so athletes can share a 30 second video on the feed with their friends and this serves as a reminder to recover

An example of when I needed this is now. I haven't been doing enough prehab for marathon training. I just do like 5 minutes in the morning or evening *if* I remember to do it. The challenge will motivate me to do it.

It would seem to me that Strava has a lot of data and data sets that could be analyzed. It would be useful IMO if Strava could build an algorithm that notifies users when there are variances. Then the users could indicate injury, vacation, work issues  lack of motivation etc

I think it would be a great addition if you'd be able to report your soreness after each activity, just like you can in Recover Athletics. This way you can keep track of possible injuries etc. For me personally, it would also be great because then I can show my physio where exactly I was sore/ something was hurting after a workout. This way I can adjust my training schedule accordingly and/or add injury prevention to it.

Id like to add also that there should be block option for illness. Ive had various issues over the years where fitness drops off the graph but no explanation of why-adding this would explain that drop. It would also show in the weekly diary.

A great idea

Great idea as others have said. My knee is sore and am not going to hit yearly goals, so would be nice to flag it and see my stats, fitness before and after, etc.

I’m about to have a hip arthroscopic procedure and I’d love a recovery option where I can track my progress. I won’t be running again till January so that would be a good short term goal to aim for

I just wrote a post about this in Strava. https://strava.app.link/WMMBTztMtFb

Hello, StravaIlluminati, I am currently injured and am taking time off running and hard cycling based on medical advice. To my knowledge there is no status for "injured" or "off season" or "taking a break" ETC... however the platform continues to give updates and downgrade its assessment of your physical status regardless.

I suggest Strava add functionality that allows the user to set their status from a standard training setting (this would be default and basically what is currently done) to an "injured or “recovering” setting that would modify the calculations for fitness or stop reporting certain measurements that are not needed for someone who is not actively training.

Thoughts? #training, #injuredstatus, #additionalfeatures
