I just turned 80, and have been recording my cycling activities on Strava since 2019.  I like to compare my rides with other senior cyclists, and segments allow me to do that.  But, at age 80, I'm still competing segment-wise with 75 year-old cyclists.  My suggestion is to replace the 75+ age group with 75-79, 80-84 and 85-90 age groups.  This will not only make segment standings fairer for those over 79, but will also encourage older competitive cyclists to improve their conditioning.

My Facebook site exclusive to Octogenarians and Nonagenarians cyclists are now at 1777 worldwide cyclists which must certainly have 100s of Strava users. For this reason we  need our own categories of 80 to 84, 85 to 89 and 90+. Thanks for your consideration.

Completely agree with extending the range of the 5 year band age groups.  Will be 85 next year and stillhoping to be able to get the miles in.

There are nearly 1,800 members of a Facebook octogenarian group. I'm sure that is far short of the number of 80+ year old cyclist that are still active and use Strava. I totally agree with the concept of adding five year age categories above the current 75+.

Totally agree .... there are lots out there still riding and using Strava beyond 80

One Facebook group of which I am a member The Royal Academy of Octogenarian Cyclists has 1778 members and that is probably the tip of the iceberg

Oops just noticed an. earlier comment with similar information

The 75+ age group is fast increasing.

I stopped paying for Strava premium because it was no longer providing age groups over 75 but lumped them altogether. The other annoying thing when trying to determine standings on Strava was that ebikes were not separated out. This becomes a real factor in today's world especially in over 65 year olds if not younger.

There is a seperate E Bike classification on Strava. If using Garmin and bike connected as an e bike it is automatic but if not you have to change the ride type after saving.
All my e bike rides and associated segments are seperate from regular cycling data

Thank you Jane for moderating this subject. Message sent to ‘Strava Support’
‘This issue has been raised on the Community Hub and is now open for comment and review. I am a Strava member in the UK and know from Runbritain statistics that there are nearly 1000 runners in the UK in these categories, and probably a similar number of cyclists. I am also a member of the Royal Academy of Octogenarian Cyclists, a private Facebook group located in Ontario, representing nearly 1800 members around the world.
We are never going to be a significant % of the 100 million Strava members around the world, but this age group is even more inspired and motivated by Strava segments than most, and I have observed that performances in these age groups does inspire the ‘youngsters’.
In the spirit of your core values that Strava athletes should thrive on wholehearted efforts and the spirit of competition, I respectfully request that you escalate this request to your Leadership Team for priority consideration and provide this benefit for the upcoming generations of Athletes around the world.’

Adding the suggested categories will provide accurate information and allow Strava data to be more accurate.

This is overdue and should be done without delay, 👍🏻

I'll be moving to 75+ next month. I just compared the 75+ results with 70-74 and the older guys are faster 😞

How do you vote for this please?

As I understand it, Strava decides whether to implement a suggestion based on the responses of members, and on their (Strava's ) opinion on it's usefulness.  See

I agree with reducing age categories , after all isn’t Strava about kudos and PR’s? Smaller categories especially for us older folks would be great!

is there currently a way to filter just for my age group?
