As a triathlete I very much would like to tag my swim as either openwater or swimming pool. Can you make this possible? I still get the idea that swimming is not very extensive supported on Strava.
Thanks for submitting your idea to have separate Sport Types for openwater swimming vs. (indoor) swimming pool swimming. It has been reviewed by our moderation team and is now open to voting. The indoor tag is currently available for swims, as pointed out by @Jan_Mantau and we recommend using that to differentiate your swims in the meantime.
Can you add "Cold-Plunge" and "Winter Swimming" to the activities list? Parameters to record should include water temperature (manual entry?) duration, heart rate, ambient temperature and for Winter Swimming, the distance.
I'd love to see a distinction made between open water and indoor pool. @Jan_Mantau and @Soren say there is an 'indoor' tag, but it is not visible on mobile only on desktop. And even on desktop it is not that obvious, so who would bother to click it?. So I'd be real keen for a separation of these activities just as there is with 'MTB' and 'Gravel' for bikes. My Suunto watch has the separation, but it is not transferred through on upload to Strava. Currently I'm getting hammered in my Strava swim club @RubyFreshOWS by all the pool swimmers who hardly ever open water swim (because it's winter here in NZ!). It would be an awesome upgrade!! Thanks @evdb for bringing it up!
Absolutely love the idea of separating Open Water, Pool , Ice Swimming , Winter Open Water Swimming and Ice Plunges out into separate activities because they are so very different and the effects they have on the body is also very different. Thanks for considering this.
