✓ Add Sailing as a Sport Type

Sailing uploads automatically from garmin, and other devices presumably, but no tag. Nice to include but it would be nice to have a tag.

How do you currently categorize it? Windsurf? Will that open up a can of worms for sailors who then want various sailing classifications? After all, when you get into "competitive" sailing, classification is everything, right? If one sailing category would work, I'm all for it. I'm just thinking out loud, wondering about the precedent it sets, etc.

Hi Eric, Not sure I am consistent. I think I've previously changed to a aquatic sport I don't intend to do (which might irritate those that do!) but garmin probably put it in a "workout" category that I didn't change.

For me (!) an "other" category would be fine. Sailing would be better. I guess if strava found a huge market for users that wanted sub-categories for every class and/or type of boat they'd have to decide whether to develop in that direction.

The other benefit (for strava) of an "other" category would be market research to work out if sailing, equestrian, canine, burrow racing, e-scooter, unicycle or whatever is the next category missing from the platform (or whether they're all just "other" and that's that, which is also progress).

On reflection, an "other" category seems like a step that would help a lot of people who's chosen activity isn't included; so I've created a post about this to see if it gets a positive response...

Sailing is not yet available as sport in Dutch!

Translated as a sport in Dutch, it is Zeilen.

What is available in Dutch now is Varen, but that is more for general for sailing a motorship or a sailboat. Can you please update the translation of Sailing to Zeilen?
