Hello,

there should be an option to tick on or off which add the possibility to turn off recalculation of the route when we switch the sport.

Often I dont choose the right sport and I build my route, and when i realize my mistake, its too late, i switch from road bike to running, and all the route is recalculated and use other road !!
Its painful and force to start over.

It should be an easy option to implement.

An other interesting option would be to be able to build 2 routes at the same time on the same map tab.

And be able to compare both route; lenght, D+, segment, and then save both in separate files.

Thanks.

Please allow the user the option to change the activity type for a saved route quickly and easily. This could be done by offering a drop down menu in the route page rather than a static type name right below the route name. Even better if the activity type is included and editable from the "My Routes" page. It's noteworthy that building gravel routes is often easier when setting the routing preference to "trail run" rather than "gravel ride"

There are two issues with the current design:

1) if the user goes to the edit page and then changes the activity type, the entire route automatically changes, so it's just not an option to change the activity type if the user wants to keep the route as is.

2) even if the above issue was solved, it requires too many steps to change the activity type and there could be a much more efficient way to achieve this goal

It would be great with a feature that allowed you to rework routes and change settings without recalculating the route every time. I make many routes for communities and bikepacking - this is a real struggle. Example: i just got a route from a friend. It is 300 km and I want to make some changes due to new starting/ ending point. Choosing prefered surface it recalculates the route to a point where it is useless. Impossible to work with.

When creating a route; and you choose "Follow most direct" or "Follow most popular", Strava will automatically recalculate the entire route. This causes a couple of problems

  • I typically only want to change this for part of the route I am currently editing.
  • it's not obvious at all what gets changed.

My feature suggestion is therefore:

  1. Ask the user if they want to "recalculate entire route?" when changing the "Follow most..." option.  If they chose "no"; then Strava should only apply the setting to upcoming edits
  2. Also ask the user this same question (do you want to recalculate the entire route) when changing the "... surfaces" option; so that it can be applied to the whole route or just to upcoming edits.
  3. when the route is recalculated highlight (e.g. in a bold colour) the before/after route. Other route creation providers have a similar concept - E.g. show the old-route and current-route as a choice on left-hand-side and allow user to hover over with the mouse to see changes visually on screen; or show old route in a different colour to visually see what has just changed.

How would this be used - example:

  • create a long route that "follows most popular" routing.
  • change the setting to "follow most direct" but choose "no" for recalc.
  • manually edit (drag and drop a point) a few places in the map to avoid certain areas and certain bicycle-paths you don't want to go on.
  • Strava should recalc just those parts of the path you are currently editing.
