Google utilizes the Health Connect application to store health data on devices, aggregating information from various applications like GoogleFit, Garmin, SamsungHealth, FitBit, and many others which write their data into Health Connect.
A notable exception is Strava, prompting the question: Why doesn't Strava write data into Health Connect? As a user, I would prefer not to sync my devices and apps individually, nor manage data across disparate applications. Instead, a unified framework where all data is consolidated and easy to track would be ideal.
Especially considering that Strava on iOS reads data from Apple Health, it seems logical to wonder why it doesn’t read from Health Connect on Android. This functionality could potentially elevate it to a major app among Android users, particularly since Android 14 comes with Health Connect as a default app. Just something to consider for your information (FYI).

So, we're not going to get this basic functionality, I assume?

Looks like it.
Too bad.
What I don't understand is why we don't hear anything from Strava about the status of this request.

It's ridiculous that this feature even needs to be proposed by the community and voted on instead of product management JUMPING ON IT!

Android has globally 70% market share and Health Connect is the Operating System level integration for health data! You wouldn't dare doing this to Apple users and whatever Apple provides on OS level.

Adding to the pile. Installed Strava because some acquaintances use it but will certainly not consider buying a subscription without Health Connect. In fact, will most likely discoontinue use without it.

Awaiting for this update soon as I am hoping this would enable me to sync non GPS activities like treadmill and other workouts from Samsung health to Strava..

This is becoming embarassing for Strava.

People have been waiting a year or more for some sort of integration with Google Health Connect, which powers Health insights for Android devices (hundreds of millions of devices around the world.. lol...)

@Jane - can we please get an update here? Why is this not already a thing?

@SamStrava Totally agree. Very surprised there has been no recent update or indication that this is even being worked on. Seems to be a very obvious feature to add.

Why this has not implemented?

Just joined Strava thinking this feature was already implemented. I use the app "Strong" for workout journaling which just added health connect in their beta. The integrations of health connect between my different apps for working out and calorie/weight tracking and Google Fit have been super nice. I was hoping to add Strava to the mix by syncing my workouts and getting to use the social features to keep up with friends. Will revisit hoping for this!
