Please add a "Moving Avg. Speed" stat. Garmin Connect has this. My rides have numerous road crossings and I usually take a 10 minute break at the halfway point of 60+ mile rides. Moving average speed is an excellent metric to compare my rides.
Hey there @donpwinston thanks for sharing your idea. It's unclear where you envision the average moving speed to appear -- Could you clarify what you mean by this? Are you saying to display this information during the activity itself (on the recording screen), or as a statistic in the activity details page after your ride (Currently, the Average Speed shown in the Activity Overview is calculated by taking the Activity Distance and dividing it by the Moving Time)? Or somewhere in your profile factoring in all of your rides, or something else?
Thanks for the additional information. This is currently available in the statistic you referenced. The "average speed" displayed on the Activity Detail page is calculated by using the distance and dividing it by the moving time -- which removes resting time. If you take a 10 minute break or stop at a traffic light, this time will be removed from the average speed number. could we revisit the idea? similarilly to @donpwinston I'm keen to have the plot/chart of Moving AVG speed.
currently, the AVG speed from the entire ride is offered as a metric describing ride.
What I'm asking here for is to be able to see how my AVG speed is changing over time. Having this information post ride to analyze, and especially linked to the position on the map and overlaid with gradient would allow to learn on the factors leading to drop (or increase) of AVG speed.
Please have a look at my ride on June 11th. while the total AVG speed on entire ride was about 30kmph the last nearly 20k (or so) were only at abot 20kmph. I'd love to see what was my max AVG speed during the ride and what point it actually changed it trend downwards.
if I am not mistaken, such running/moving AVG is on the fly displayed on the head units. but there's no record of it after the ride. what I am asking is to redo such calculations and add them as additional metric
