There are many great ideas that Strava doesn't have time or priority to implement.
A good solution may be to Open Source the code for the Route Creator so that you can accept potential bug fixes and new features from other developers.
This also comes with some overhead in having to manage (accept / reject / merge) such changes, and would have to include guidelines and principles for others to follow on acceptable changes; but the benefits would be huge.
Or alternatively implement a marketplace type concept for integrating modules/add-ons to the route-creator (or overall Strava.com user portal); so that individuals could contribute new features.
This would help accelerate Strava capabilities and significantly reduce the time-to-market for new features and bug fixes.
