It would be great, assuming you have the appropriate subscriptions, to show the five heart rate zones as swimlanes in the analysis tab.

I can already view my exact heart rates in the analysis tab, and I can view my aggregate time in each heart rate zone in the subscription tab, but it would be nice if I could overlay the two together in the Analysis tab.

This would allow me to see which exact segments of my ride were in each zone.  I could use this to help me plan out my ride efforts.

Hello @emdean5183

Thanks for submitting an idea!  Could you clarify a couple of things please.  Are you referring to the Mobile App display or the Web, or both?  Also, could you explain a bit more about what you mean when you say "swim lanes" ?

Thanks so much.

Hello,

I was referring to the web app specifically, however, I suppose it could apply to the mobile app as well.

A swimlane is a UI component that is an overlay that groups related components together and separates unrelated components (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swimlane).  Swimlanes can either be vertical (like when viewing a Kanban board in an application like JIRA) or horizontal, which is what I was suggesting here.

Effectively there would be multiple stacked horizontal bands that go across the entire heart rate graph, one per heart rate zone.  You could possibly color-coded them with a mostly transparent background colour.

My objective is to make it very easy to see which parts of your ride were in each distinct heart rate zone.

This isn't a perfect example, but imagine something like the following embedded as a background to the heart rate graph (minus most of the text), scaled appropriately to match the user's configured heart rate zones

The heart rate zones are colored in different shades of red. The graph above showsi the heart rate. It would be handy to see instantly where exactly the different zones were performed. Repeating the same color scheme as the zone graph would be useful.

one could this in horizontal bands per heart rate zone, or alternatively, in vertical bands per max zone for the given time interval. Or if not fixed, customizable with a simple slider on the graph. For the Strava team to experiment with this and see what works best.

and thinking about it, while I’m writing this, the same approach could be applied on the power graph to show the zones.

what do you think?
