I think tracking running streaks (or any other form of exercise that is done every day) will be a great addition to Strava.

This is important because:

  • I have been running every day
  • There are at least 4,142 runners who have also been running every day on runeveryday.com.
  • This feature will show me which day of my running streak I am on without having to check it manually.
  • I was inspired by runners like Hellah Sidibe who has been running every day for multiple years.
  • I want to inspire other runners to run or exercise every day.

An example of when I needed this feature was today. I wanted to check which day of the streak I am on (Day 576! 😊) to see how close I am to my next milestone.

Thank you Strava and Happy Holidays!

I would love to see this! I have ridden my bike outdoors every day since December of 2015. Today will be day 2578 of my streak. Next month I will pass the 70,000 mile mark without taking a day off. I would love it even more if you could distinguish between my outdoor rides and the indoor virtual rides that most people are doing while I'm outside riding in the freezing rain!

@ChrisBerry Congratulations on 7+ years man! That is awesome and inspirational!

Is there a website for cyclists who do this every day? I think if we can show that there are a significant number of athletes doing a specific form of exercise every day we can get the streak feature for sport type and in general.

@Shant I'm not aware of a website for people who ride every day. Velo Viewer does have a Streak tracking feature but it doesn't provide any way of knowing how many other people have significant streaks going. I would really love to be able to display this info on my profile.

I like this idea, I would like it to also have ability to track for 'any workout' (daily exercise), as well as a specific type (run/bike/lift) every day.

My Garmin Venu tracks streaks for hitting daily step goals - I find it motivating to keep my streak alive, would be great to have similar on Strava.

@CreakyCrank yes 100%! It should track any workout streak and specific workout streak

Great idea!

It would be nice to be able to join predefined streaks (run 1 mile a day; run 3 miles a day; run 1 marathon a week; ride 10 kms a day and so on).

There should be an "active streak" ranking and an "all-time streak" ranking (including retired streaks); both should have a filter option so we are able so see either "all athletes" or just "following".

any chance there is an update on this?  I would love if this got implemented!  “Streaking” is gaining in popularity out there.  I’m a little over 1200 days right now.  Would be super cool to keep track directly on strava

I think it will be great if Strava adds a 365 challenge.

what is it?

This is a challenge that requires an athlete to stay active for at least 5 minutes everyday.

why is it important?

Tracking an activity or any activity everyday helps create an exercise habit. The challenge badge gives an incentive and a community. Once it becomes a habit it is easier to exercise.

how does it work?

Just like any other challenge. Every activity counts. It doesn’t need to be the same activity. It needs to be done everyday for at least 5 minutes to be. It can start January 1 or whenever an athlete starts a streak.

Multiple challenge badges:

There could be multiple challenge badges for 100 days, 200 days, 300 days, 365 days every year.

I would like to explain how I came to this specific thread/feature request. I along with a friend am not doing any sports activities. Yesterday I agreed with said friend, that there should be no week without any sports activity. I do not use Strava, but found this feature request by googling for a streak feature. First goal my friend and I agree on is, that we must both have at least 5km of running every week. We would like to check in on each other and keep each other engaged via a Plattform like Strava.
I understand, that I am not an extreme user or even an athlete. However I hope such a feature can be added in order to proactively challenge new runners to stay active. As an extension I can also imagine Badges for streaks, that you can use to „brag“ in your profile info. Or even like with segments have a leaderboard for streaks in your area. Having the crown for most persistent runner in my area certainly would be motivating, because for me competition is a heavy driver.

@chrigi_mido I am grateful that you shared how you found the post and how you want the streak feature to track with your friends. This feature would definitely help everyone stay motivated to keep moving every day regardless of the sport activity.

I am excited for you and your friend to track streaks and build the exercise habit! You guys can do it. Have you read Atomic Habits by James Clear?

Good evening, Shant!  Today was day 1,300 of my running streak.  Started on 12/31/2019.  I've run at least 1 mike everyday and an average of 4.3 daily over that time.  I keep track of my streak on Smashrun, and have asked Starva many times over to please implement a streak counter on its website to no avail.  Can you tell me if you ever heard anything further from Starva about your request?  Just seems like such an easy request to implement.  I went looking for a Strava widget today to handle this counting for me on my Strava page, and ran across your post on this site.

Thank you!

@JimTancredi congrats on 1300 days! Today is my 2791st day of cycling outdoors and I'm approaching 77,000 miles since I started in December of 2015. This idea hasn't gotten much traction since it was posted but it seems like it would be an easy thing to implement and it would be popular if Strava would make it happen.

@JimTancredi Congratulations on 1,300 man!!! That is awesome man. I am almost at 800 and excited about reaching 1,000 days next year. I haven't seen any new updates from Strava since voting started for this post. I think if an idea gains over 100+ kudos in the community, then Strava sends it to their product team for roadmapping. Are you in any big streaking groups on Strava? I will try sending this to the Streak Runners International group on Strava now.

@ChrisBerry Congratulations on 2792 Days and 77,000 miles!!! I agree it seems like it would be an easy and popular feature. Seeing streaks would inspire and motivate me to keep pushing every day. If more people vote on it because they are doing it then we can follow up with the team. I think the team currently considers it nice to have, but not significant. I think this is an important feature because then people wouldn't leave strava or cancel their subscription.

I completely agree that a streak counter would be an asset to the Strava app.
