I think tracking running streaks (or any other form of exercise that is done every day) will be a great addition to Strava.

This is important because:

  • I have been running every day
  • There are at least 4,142 runners who have also been running every day on runeveryday.com.
  • This feature will show me which day of my running streak I am on without having to check it manually.
  • I was inspired by runners like Hellah Sidibe who has been running every day for multiple years.
  • I want to inspire other runners to run or exercise every day.

An example of when I needed this feature was today. I wanted to check which day of the streak I am on (Day 576! 😊) to see how close I am to my next milestone.

Thank you Strava and Happy Holidays!

@chrigi_mido I am grateful that you shared how you found the post and how you want the streak feature to track with your friends. This feature would definitely help everyone stay motivated to keep moving every day regardless of the sport activity.

I am excited for you and your friend to track streaks and build the exercise habit! You guys can do it. Have you read Atomic Habits by James Clear?

I’d love this feature. I’ve been injured for some time now and am re-building my running base along with strengthening. I’d love to be able to set goals to run 3 days a week, do yoga at least once/week, and do my rehab daily. As of right now I’m tracking this in my training log, but not Strava. Seems like it would a great feature, especially with some sort of  recover app integration.

Meant to add:

It would be great to be able to use frequency, but also to use time per week. Aka I want to stretch for 45 minutes this week, or I want to stretch every day, or something like that.

Good evening, Shant!  Today was day 1,300 of my running streak.  Started on 12/31/2019.  I've run at least 1 mike everyday and an average of 4.3 daily over that time.  I keep track of my streak on Smashrun, and have asked Starva many times over to please implement a streak counter on its website to no avail.  Can you tell me if you ever heard anything further from Starva about your request?  Just seems like such an easy request to implement.  I went looking for a Strava widget today to handle this counting for me on my Strava page, and ran across your post on this site.

Thank you!

@JimTancredi congrats on 1300 days! Today is my 2791st day of cycling outdoors and I'm approaching 77,000 miles since I started in December of 2015. This idea hasn't gotten much traction since it was posted but it seems like it would be an easy thing to implement and it would be popular if Strava would make it happen.

@JimTancredi Congratulations on 1,300 man!!! That is awesome man. I am almost at 800 and excited about reaching 1,000 days next year. I haven't seen any new updates from Strava since voting started for this post. I think if an idea gains over 100+ kudos in the community, then Strava sends it to their product team for roadmapping. Are you in any big streaking groups on Strava? I will try sending this to the Streak Runners International group on Strava now.

@ChrisBerry Congratulations on 2792 Days and 77,000 miles!!! I agree it seems like it would be an easy and popular feature. Seeing streaks would inspire and motivate me to keep pushing every day. If more people vote on it because they are doing it then we can follow up with the team. I think the team currently considers it nice to have, but not significant. I think this is an important feature because then people wouldn't leave strava or cancel their subscription.

I completely agree that a streak counter would be an asset to the Strava app.

Hi, good idea!

In the mean time I developed a Strava App to automatically prepend to the activity description some informations that I wanted to see first without having to open the activity details. One of them is the total running streak days. Check one of my recent activities as an example: My Strava profile

Congrats on your monster streak @ChrisBerry and to you @Shant as you approach the 1,000 mark!!! Great stuff!  I thought I saw another post where someone made a Strava app extension with a streak counter.  Any idea I'd we can implement this add-on and if so how do we do it?  Thank you!  Jim T.

Hi streak runners,

in the meantime you can use the free app/service myRunstreak, which integrates nicely with your Strava running activities.
It does exactly this one thing - it keeps track of your current run streak!

A great idea tracking the run streaks. I need other apps for the accountability.

Hey y'all!

I actually made a little app for this exact reason! Check it out here: https://activitystreak.app

Maybe Strava would be nice enough to incorporate my app into their platform!
