Strava only lets you log distance against gear if you have a corresponding activity for it in Strava.

But I have gear that has logged distance in other apps/pre-Strava that I would like to manually add. There's currently no way for me to do this, which means I don't get a true view of the distance logged against gear as I cannot add pre-Strava KMs against it.

It would be great if we could go into each item of gear and add in additional distance that isn't linked to a Strava activity.

I would also like to know if there's been any development for this feature.

Yep, I need this. Adding a comment to keep the thread/dream alive.

When I add a component to a bike, sometimes it was taken off another bike. So the component has more than zero miles on it.

As a user, I want to know how many miles each component has been ridden, regardless of the bike it is on.

Please add a field to components to allow entering the starting mileage.

I just let my son use my training bike for a ride as he wanted to try road riding. Just realised I cannot add the mileage 'he rode on my gear' so I'll have to keep a record somewhere for maintenance tracking.

C'mon Strava, please add this feature. For now I need to manually add a faux activity to keep my gear distance correct 😤

I have gear that I have been using (but never thought to log) for over a year. It would be great to be able to quickly select the shoe (gear) and tick each run that it has been used on; rather than having to go one by one - very tedious, very boring.

That’s a good idea! Or to be able to enter a purchase date for a shoe and have Strava give you the option to retroactively update the shoe mileage from the purchase date onwards.

I just subscribed to Strava after being an occasional user for a few years. I was hoping to go all in on the app and tried to add my gear data into Strava taking the current shoe mileage from another app ( which lets you add mileage manually). Couldn’t believe it can’t be done and It’s really disappointing to see that this simple feature hasn’t been implemented despite the strong interest from users as well as the sheer logic of it. If I want to keep using Strava I’m now faced with running two apps so I can still track the mileage on my 6 shoe rotation. Frankly I’m Not sure I will stick with an app that won’t do this. It’s bizarre.
