Most cyclists think in terms of kilometres. Most runners in the UK and US think in terms of miles. My thinking is with the most, so I have my Garmin set to display kilometres cycling and miles running. But Strava forces me to choose one or the other. This poses me a problem: as a cyclist I do not understand how far or fast a ride is when distance and speed are expressed in miles, while as a runner I do not understand how far and fast a run is when distance and pace are expressed in kilometers! Please could you fix it so that I can display my rides in kilometers and my runs in miles, just as I do on my Garmin. Thanks!

This is a must- it’s crazy that you can’t chose which units you prefer for a specific sport rather than have to chose either imperial or metric only for all. This seems like an easy fix Strava and would make a lot of people  happy! Like others I use miles for running and cycling but metres for swimming

100% agree with Sbeg75 - it shouldn’t even get to a point where we’re even begging for it to be added either it seems like common sense to be a feature and should of been a feature years ago

Upvote for the ability to select measurement units on the activity feed screens at will. Per activity type would be an improvement but on the fly switching would be the ultimate solution as often other people will write about their pacing etc in their activity in different units than I would use so being able to flick back and forth would be the ultimate community friendly solution in my view.

I pace my running in miles but my swimming in metres. However I have Canadian running friends who talk in min/km so would like to compare stats with them easily without doing mental maths.

Hi Goldenbear, once you set the unit for activities (run, swim, bike)  and measures (distance, pace, speed, elevation), I would think these same units would apply to your activities and other people's activity.

@Gdupont Yes that would definitely be a great improvement so if that’s the way Strava choose to go I’m behind it for sure.

My feeling is on the fly feed switching of units would be extra useful but a luxury.

Come on Strava let’s sort this!

This bugs me so much!! It would be such a simple fix as it is a simple conversion table.

i want running and cycling distance in miles. Swimming distance in metres and elevation in metres. Garmin does this easily, yet Strava is so one dimensional. Come on!!!

Is anyone from Strava reviewing these messages? It’s starting to feel like we’re shouting into a black hole!

Need this feature 🙏 Still don't think possible in Strava

Even within a single activity type I would love to be able to change the unit of measurement. For a long run I would want miles but for a track workout I want meters.

Swimming in yards is absolutely ridiculous for UK users.  Is there a single swimming pool left in the UK that is in yards?  Currently users who want miles for cycling have to have yards for swimming.  Ridiculous!!!

Come on Strava - this is basic stuff. Garmin allow you to do it, please just allow to individuals to choose units for specific activity. Nobody swims in yards in the UK and it’s a real bugbear for so many athletes/triathletes and it’s so easy to make it happen.

I would also like this feature.  I prefer running in miles and swimming with meters.
Thank you

I'd love to be able to display both imperial and metric at the same time to transition between old english and european systems more easily, or at least being able to tap to change between measurement systems with a simple tap/click.

@Soren do you have any updates re this feature? It would be immensely useful to display both units. Also where do we vote on this? Thanks

It's just basic conversations. How hard can it be to incorporate, at the very least a way to easily convert like any phone calculator does? This thread was started over 2 years ago!

I know that sailing is typically expressed in knots but for me (and I'm not alone) once the activity is in Strava, i don't understand anything because it's in knots. Constantly having to convert to km to understand my performance is a big frustration.
