When you sign up for a club event and then record a matching cycling or running activity on the scheduled day then the activity should automatically link to the event. It's nice to be able to keep track of club events where you participated, and for your followers to see which clubs are scheduling events. Currently when a club event date has passed it just sort of disappears from the Strava web site and mobile apps; there's no way to easily find it again or see who participated.
