Dear Strava team

I did swimming in the indoor pool, my Garmin cannot capture swimming, hence I did the distance in the Gamin App manually, but after syncing, Strava does not show the distance (however, it does show the calories and heart rate synced from Garmin). Apparently, I can change manually the distance for running, cycling, bot nut for indoor swimming. After talking to the supprt desk I was advised to use a manual entry, which in the end of the day turns out that if I make such entry, I can describe time and distance but not the calories.

I.e. either you have a synced data without distance (doesn't make sense) or you have a manual entry with distance but without calories and heart rate.

In all other activities I can change at least the distance.

Would you please consider changing this one for swimming as well? I.e. Strava retrieves info about activity from Garmin, and user may manually change distance from 0 (now it is zero) to an actual distance.

Thanks

What kind of Garmin are you using?  Most of them have a "pool swim" activity option that will record the laps you swim as long as you set the length of the pool before you start.

It is forerunner 45, and it doesn't unfortunately (now consider buying something like forerunner 255 with this feature). But generally, I do not think I am the only one with this problem, and if I can change the distance in Cycling and Running, why not in Swimming...

Thanks for submitting your idea. It has been reviewed by our moderation team and is now open to voting.

The idea title was edited so it will be easier for others to search and vote on.

I think the existing change you're referring to is this one:

https://communityhub.strava.com/t5/ideas/show-garmin-calibrated-treadmill-distances-on-strava-activi...

In some cases, you can calibrate/change distance on your Garmin device prior to uploading it to Garmin Connect.  The change we made now means that the calibrated distance will show on your Strava actiity.

What you are suggesting is a bit different, since you are talking about editing the distance in Garmin Connect after upload.  For that type of an edit, we do not currently get that edited distance for any type of activity, including swimming.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Dear Jane,

thank you, but I think we talk about two different issues - my problem is that when I track my activity (swimming) with my Garmin (unfortunately, my model cannot track swimming, hence I use cardio and then correct the data in Garmin Connect, like distance), Strava still doesnt "see" this as a swim (even if I have corrected it in Garmin Connect), and I cannot change the distance in Strava (there is no such option), whereby I put the distance in Garmin Connect. I.e. even if I follow your proposal, and calibrate the distance in Garmin Connect, it is still 0 (zero meters) in Strava.

What I propose is that we may change/correct the distance in Strava directly, or that Strava can pull up the corrected info from Garmin (i.e. after changing the data in Garmin, Strava does not update it).

Thanks

Alex

UPDATE:

I tried to export a file with the trainings data (after changes in Garmin Community), and after uploading to Strava it does not show anything from my changes, even the name of the activity is set to be Ride (and not Swim).
