I really dislike this idea and hope it is not implemented. The heatmap is supposed to represent actual places in the world where you have ridden or walked or run. Sitting in your basement on a trainer watching the world go by on a video screen is not the same thing at all.
Hi, I too have always explored the area by cycling or outdoors. Unfortunately I have some rather debilitating health problems so at most I can explore the world with virtual activities. Some scenarios, already visited live, I found very realistic using rouvy. I would still like to keep track of it on the heatmap to see what I "visited" although yes, I agree that it is a "workaround", but unfortunately the cycling activities are a memory.
There seems to be a half-baked implementation on this. On one hand, activities using Garmin's virtual cycling profile with a real-life course (correctly) doesn't show any GPS data:
However, they are shown in the heatmap:
So there is clearly a way to pinpoint those activities. I would, personally, like them hidden, but I understand some people like @lorenzopinarell would find great value in visualizing them. I agree with @iksnibarg: maybe there could be a toggle to show/hide virtual cycling activities
They were on the old heatmap. But currently I see global heatmap for virtual rides (e.g. zwift rides), but I don't see my own virtual rides - and this is so confusing. At least I do want to see heatmaps for my zwift "trips".
There just should be a switch like "include private activities", but "include virtual activities" - and for both global and personal heatmaps. This way it would be useful for everyone.
