I strongly believe that Hike and walk should count towards a users Vertical climbed score. Although primarily a hiker/climber, I have to use Run for my activities in order to track vertical.
This is available on your Profile page on the Web. On the lower right of your own profile page, you can see your personal stats for the sport types you uploaded most frequently within the past 90 days, including averages for the last four weeks, totals for the year, and all-time totals. You will see elevation data as well. For example, here's a screenshot showing an Athlete who has accumulated over 91,000 feet of elevation in walk activities:
