Auto-complete brand name when adding a new piece of Gear

When adding a new shoe in the Gear section of the app, it's really annoying to have to manually scroll down hundreds of brand names to find the one you're trying to add.

Please consider make the brand name field a text field with the ability to auto-complete the brand name once the user starts typing a couple of characters

Fully agree! The list of shoe brands is very long and includes a lot of obscure brands. It takes a lot of effort to find the brand you need. As an alternative solution, there could be a short list of popular brands shown by default and an option to show the full list of all brands.

Agree, compulsory Brand field is just annoying at this point. Please make Brand and Model fields optional i.e. allow "Blank" or "None". I am currently just selecting either "Mi" or "On" as brand,  adding a blank space into Model field (as this has weird behaviour too) and typing what I prefer to see into Nickname.
I mean, yes "HOKA ONE ONE" is correct but why can't I just specify the more common "Hoka"?
Also, can anyone explain why what's typed into Model gets reformatted? e.g "Vaporfly NEXT% 2" becomes "Vaporfly Next% 2"
