For anyone living in a hilly area there are some tell time signs that the ride may have been made on an e-bike, a relatively constant speed, top ten placings on most hills above 10% gradient traversed, the equipment used to record the ride.  If available HR and PM data more often than not indicates that it is not an e-bike ride.

It seems some riders of e-bikes are unaware there is a separate e-bike category, when a user uploads the first "suspicious" ride could Strava ask the rider if that ride and all subsequent rides should be posted as e-bike rides?

Hello @2old2rr

Thanks for posting about this.  We appreciate your in interest segment leaderboards containing valid data only.

We do have an automated system in place that analyzes activities and will automatically flag when suspicious data is detected.  This system catches many (but not all) invalid efforts and prevents them from appearing on segment leaderboards.  In the case of E-bike rides specifically, the Athlete in question then has the option to recategorize the activity as "E-bike" in order to remove the flag.

We are continually working on improving and enhancing this auto detection.  You can read more about this here

If you do notice invalid efforts on leaderboards, you have the option to notify us by using the Flag tool or reporting the Athlete  More details here

Thanks again for your contribution.

I find it rather strange that heartrate is not included in audio announcements. A lot of sports don't allow you to watch your phone or device to view your heartrate. What I would suggest to add th following heartrate feature into te announcements:

Over Max alert (directly)

Below Min alert (

Mean heartrate per announcement interval
