Hi Strava and the Strava Community.

This may have happened to you, you have put your best effort in to gain a KOM or QOM only to find that you are second, but second to someone who was assisted in some way. We all know how E-Bikes now have their own category as the purists who use completely human power to get their achievements didn't want to share a results table with those with assistance.

I know how you feel, well imagine that you have no lost your KOM/QOM to a runner or cyclist who has DOG POWER pulling them along. These dogs can get runners around 5km in times that only Mo Farah can dream about, we have broken the 13 minute barrier for 5km at Parkrun. On the bikes they can be even quicker and also cross country and uphills see substantially quicker times due to the dog assistance.

We only ask for 3 new sub categories to be created under the Run category a sub group of CaniCross, under bike 2 new categories, CaniBike and CaniScoot. Each will have the same features as the normal, but it allows our times and KOMs to be recorded separately and not skewing the pure results, ParkRun enabled this facility to list run as assisted, can STRAVA do the same.

I have asked this of Strava many times, its top of a suggestions list on the Strava support page with 50% more votes than the second suggestion.

Thanks for reading and I hope that you can support this feature request and allow the good times to roll again without these **bleep** dogs skewing your results.

Tight lines and Hike On.

I agree, Strava should have canicross and other cani- options as it is not fair for segment leaderboards or KOM/QOM as my canix dog reduces my pace by up to a minute per mile when hitched to him

yes the thing about Canicross and ski jouring and bike jouring ...is it is the art of your relationship with the dog...how well you communicate..."on by"...break  - go ahead and chase that rabbit ...let's gooooooooooo!

The fact that this hasn’t been implemented, despite the many requests, is really disappointing. Canicross completely ruins a lot of trail segments for normal runners. In my area a lot of the KOM trail segments are taken by a local group of canicrossers with times that wouldn’t be possible for unassisted runners. It’s really frustrating and I’m sure the canicross folks don’t like it either (although they do seem to enjoy having the crowns!). Come on Strava, actually listen to your users for once.

Great to see the continued support from the CaniSports community keeping this topic active and also to the non-CaniSports athletes who would also like to be able to compare themselves with like minded (Normal !!) people. Please share this thread to your dog friends and the wider sports communities and lets get it recognised so that we can all record our activities on an even playing field.

Yes please, I mostly run unassisted, but would really appreciate the option to log/tag my dog-assisted sessions, so that they don't skew either my own unassisted PR efforts, or other runners on their Segment efforts, etc.

Canicross is becoming more popular, at least in Europe. This is a different acitvity than just runnig with a dog, it gives you very different pace and PR for example. I would love to have separate results (PR) for the training sessions when I am pulled by my dog.

Same here.
I run and MTB with and without dogs and would like to be able to track those separately.
I'm not setting any records that other people need to worry about, but it still makes it hard to track my own PBs, which get utterly skewed by the runs with dogs.

The sport of Canicross and Bikejoring has a significant community, federations and national and world championships. Strava should have already paid attention to this community, including the activity that is essentially a “Strava activity” running.

Suggestion: in the DETAILS of the activity, just as we entered the name of our BIKE or SHOE, creating the Canicross and Bikejoring activity, there should be the possibility of entering the name of the dog.

There's Canicross (man and dog, both running, on a trail) and Bikejoring (man on a bike and dog, on a trail).
In the case of Canicross there will hardly be an advantage as the man's skill will be the limiting factor. But yes, man is pushed to his limits.
In Bikejoring, the pair has a relative advantage on the way up, but on the way down (the advantages end, and it becomes a disadvantage) the difficulties are extreme as the dog runs in front of the bike on a leash.

Man has never been so connected to dogs as he is today. Therefore, the great growth of the "pet" sector. Canicross is a reality, practiced by a large number of runners around the world, who want to share these moments with their dog (friend). A growing activity. I suggest including the "canicross" modality in TIPO.

Canicross is very popular in Europe and USA, 13.208 MEMBERS of CANICROSS on STRAVA but don't have recognition.

It has a much more significant community than other sports listed on strava, but it does not have this option on strava. Doing a little research, I identified 13,000 members who use the strava and practice canicross (run with their dogs).

I would suggest including this category in strava's list of sports (13.208 MEMBERS)start.jpg

Canicross is a sport known on all continents, with athletes, clubs, federations and competitions. The activity remains to be included on Strava, expanding and attracting this sports community.
Why not?

Getting the members of all the strava canicross (bike & ski also) users to start posting here would be great but I guess most are not aware of this feature reguest and just log the activities as run/ski/bike
