I know there used to be an association between Strava and parkrun. But regardless of the reason for that ending parkrun is a great force for good and encourages people to exercise.

My feature request is to have a runtype category of 'parkrun' much like there is one for 'race'

I hope this is the right place, thanks for opening this up Strava

Do you mean to add a 'parkrun' tag, like there is for 'Long Run', 'Race', 'Workout'?

Hi @Soren

Yes, thats where I think it would be more appropriate than an activity by itself, but happy either way. Some people will do parkrun and walk or walk/run so could be a tag under those as well?

How parkrun is different than a race?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkrun has all about it, its more about personal improvement than a traditional race

Still, I don't see a difference. It is a timed run - a time trial. It doesn't matter whether participants race with each other or try to beat their previous results. In a traditional running race event 90% of participants don't race each other either but try to beat their previous PR.

Perhaps a new tag that Strava should add is 'Time Trial'. There are time trials other than parkruns, and I know currently some people use the 'Race' tag for that even when they run on their own, for example when competing against a FKT (https://fastestknowntime.com/).

fair enough the world would be very boring if we all thought the same

I title all my parkruns with parkrun, you could add a tag like #parkrun in the description too. Later on you can then search for these very easily in the app. If you want to see it on the training log then maybe that is a feature request to filter on tags there (haven't checked if thats possible now)

I think that's more workable than having a huge list of pre-defined tags as there are a lot of other event types out there
