Best efforts are now included in cycling which is great.  However these include everyones virtual rides which they should not.  For example  in no way should a fantasy downhill compare against a real downhill descent.   Virtual rides should be counted as a completely different sport.

Hello,

This has been implemented.  Thanks again to everyone for their feedback.

Very disappointed in your approach to this Strava! I can understand why some would like their virtual rides removed from best efforts, but am very disappointed that this has been implemented in such a way as to REMOVE all best efforts for virtual riders as well. Strava seems to be stuck in the past and doesn't seem to understand the huge part that platforms such as Zwift play in many peoples lives these day. As someone who spends nearly all my time in the virtual world these days, my efforts, and the millions of others in the world like me, have now had their efforts relegated to being meaningless and not worth noting, and as such are no longer displayed. These indoor efforts take just as much effort and hurt just as much as any out door effort, and deserve that same recognition.

Strava admin obviously do not spend much time in worlds such as Zwift, and don't realise that for many people this is their MAIN cycling world. So many choose to spend most or all of their cycling time indoors for multiple reasons, including weather, unsafe roads, having had accidents or friends who have been seriously injured or killed etc, or just because it can be such a social and emotional support when times are hard. Platforms such as Zwift provide a complete experience of cycling, including social rides, solo rides and races for those that wish to, as well as a very strong social environment, one where you can make many very good friends world wide. Many people ride multiple events each day, and live for and through those events.

Some Zwift users I know have only ever ridden indoors on Zwift, so what do they get showing in their best efforts now? Others such as myself now only have a list of real world Best Efforts from 8 or 10 years ago when I was younger and racing, which I am never likely to come close to bettering again as I get older (nearly 70)

Virtual rides should not be compared to real world rides for all the reasons listed elsewhere and which are well known, but to totally devalue a huge group of your user base who choose to live in their virtual worlds, and to regard those efforts as worthless, is both very disappointing, hurtful and discriminatory. It clearly shows the blinkered approach of an out of touch and out of date Strava.

Strava you need to correct this soon, show that you value the needs of all your customers and not just a small subset of very vocal real world users. I cannot see that it would be too hard to add another tab to display only virtual rides, so you had both real world efforts for those who want that, and also display virtual best efforts for your virtual riders.

This is just a slap in the face for everyone who primarily rides indoors. But at least now I know what you think about me as a user. So thanks for reminding me I need to cancel my subscription and not let it auto-renew.

Agreed that virtual rides should not count as real rides, I have to filter my zwift rides through a gpx editor so I can post them as a workout instead. Just make it a separate activity type, it isn't the same.
