I have two electric bikes—a touring bike, which I use primarily on the road, and a mountain bike which I use primarily off-road. I really DON’T want to record both rides under eBike as they are very different rides.

Moreover, when I choose "Mountain Bike," Strava ASSUMES that it’s not an electric bike. This was made clear to me when I got a message from Strava that I was number 2 on a particular trail. That probably would not have been the case if I’d been on a non-ebike!

So, my suggestion is that you have another category for electric mountain-bikes, ie. eMTB!

Just a follow up on this post. Today I did a ride on my eMTB and got a message that I'm the "KOM" on one of the trails that I rode today. I assume that KOM stands for King of the Mountain and is based on the speed with which I rode up a particular trail. This is exactly why I think there needs to be a new category because I definitely would not be the KOM if I had ridden a regular mountain-bike up the hill! I had recorded the ride under Mountain Bike rather than Electric Bike for reasons that I stated in my post.

What you're doing is the most hated behaviour throughout Strava so please stop saving your ebike rides as MTB rides and accept that at the moment there isn't an EMTB sports type!

@Dahveed7 - As you noted, there is just one category to encompass all e-bikes.  Please make sure that any e-bike ride, whether it is on the road or on the e-mtb, is listed as an e-bike ride.  Maybe strava will eventually break out e-bikes into separate categories within the e-bike realm, but in the meantime, all rides should be listed in the one category.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention Jan. I’m fairly new to Strava and I can see why this would be an odious behavior! I will record my mountain-bike rides under eBike from now on as anchskier suggested. As for my recent KOM status, I will try to delete that ride.

@Dahveed7 - Don't delete the other ride, just edit it to change it to an e-bike ride.  You still did the ride, so you should get credit, it just needs to be marked as an e-bike ride.  Pretty simple edit once you open the activity in either the mobile app or the desktop version.

Can you try adjusting your most recent activity from the desktop/website?

From there you should see the category.
