As an avid downhill mountain biker/snowboarder, it would be cool if Strava worked the way Slopes (getslopes.com) does, where chairlift rides don’t count towards a total activity distance.
Like everyone else here, using lifts, I have to say that I find it very frustrating to have all this elevation in my statistics. Especially because when training correctly those data are blurring a lot my overall fitness score and this is something really difficult to accept as a premium user.
When I post alpine skiing activities, Strava lists PRs for my lift rides. Obviously this doesn't make sense as I have no input on lift speed - it varies depending on mechanical issues, people falling as they get off, etc. I am not proud when the lift happens to go a bit faster one time as it is nothing to do with me! So my suggestion is that Strava stops posting PRs for alpine skiing lift rides.
@Jane you see all the comments here. I am a passionate Strava user and the community clearly wants you to program a solution to remove lift vertical and distance. Pausing activities in midst of winter outdoor activities is not a good solution. I am a software entrepreneur and know this is not hard to code the solution as almost all other fitness apps do it. Can you please go to your Strava CEO and share the community passion and have them prioritize a fix in your rodmap? Telling us to pause activities feels a bit insulting to your community. Just fix it!
i just find it pathetic that app manufacturers have to write that strava is not able to interpret their data. and by the way slopes is free (app for ski tracking!) and records everything PERFECTLY! https://slopes.helpscoutdocs.com/article/50-inaccurate-data-in-strava what can i say... i'm off strava for the winter. the problem has existed for years and would be an easy one, the data is already neatly processed all you have to do is invest a few hours, days (for paying customers!!!)
Lifting is still added to the total distance for me when I select snowboarding. I‘ve then moved to slopes because it supports Strava export and removes lifting. But Strava added the lifting again. I mean how can I go uphill so it should not be that complicated to remove it, shouldn‘t it?
statement from strava that i received about a year ago. strava cannot correctly interpret the data that slopes provides. sorry, i can't imagine that something like this is so complicated? just a stupid excuse from my point of view.
Suunto has this as default when you for example do snowboarding. Works very well.
Just buy Suunto watch and don’t pay anything to Strava anymore as you don’t need it anymore. Suunto site and app is way more nicer and 2024. Works also with Apple Health. You pretty quicly save the watch price when no need for subscription.
slopes to strava still doesn't work and to be honest i have now deactivated the export to strava. i don't see why i should still support strava with a subscription. the slopes app does exactly what i want for me in winter and for FREE! now i need a great app for the summer, because strava is no longer an option for me... !
I believe Strava should do something about this problem. every single body need to know how many kilometers did she/he ski considering the slope not in horizontal plan. we don’t need to know how long is a lift, as they usually are written in the list details. Thanks
