As an Apple Watch user, I would love to have the option to view a live map with directions directly on my watch while running or cycling. It’s frustrating to have route features available, yet not be able to use them effectively on my watch. When I go running or cycling, I prefer to leave my phone at home, making this functionality even more essential.

This would be MASSIVE, there are so many apps on App Store right now that try to emulate Garmin offline topo maps and routes, if Strava integrated this into the Apple Watch app it would make the Strava subscription way more valuable as you wouldn't need to worry about something like Footpath, Workoutdoors, etc. to get routing for hikes and other activities.

I just singed up for  a 60-day trial solely for the basis of using the routes feature. Now, after learning I can’t use it with my watch, I probably will cancel the premium trial before paying.

Which app is the best replacement for routes? im this close to switching back to garmin

This seems more like a function Apple should integrate into their watch, the way Garmin and COROS already do.

I use WorkOutDoors, which allows me to import GPX files for routes I find online. It shows me a map with a ton of features. If WorkOutDoors can implement this functionality, then Strava should be able to do it as well. I don’t believe this is a limitation imposed by Apple.

For what it's worth, Strava already has a GPX import capability, just not turn-by-turn.

Strava allows GPX file imports, but it’s not very useful on an Apple Watch because there’s no option to display the map

I would love this for running and walking also, how do we vote?

Hello,

It's completely reasonable to want live map directions directly on your Apple Watch while running or cycling. The current route features can be frustrating, especially if they aren't effectively usable on your watch. Given that you prefer to leave your phone at home, having this functionality becomes even more crucial.

Checking WBAHİS for updates and solutions related to live map and route directions for Apple Watch might be helpful. You can explore apps or software solutions that provide better navigation support on your watch. Additionally, make sure to check for the latest software updates for your Apple Watch and use compatible apps to enhance functionality.

Adding turn by turn on the Apple Watch would be a great add on. That is the main reason why I own such a watch: leave my phone at home while running.

Is liking the comment a vote? Or do I need to vote elsewhere? This is a huge requirement in my opinion as I cannot figure out (without paying more than the already expensive strava sub) to actually get directions on routes I am creating 🤷‍♂️

Yes, liking the comment counts as a vote

Adding turn-by-turn navigation and viewing routes on the apple watch would be a huge update which would improve Strava app. On the internet I see that a lot of people are complaining that Strava doesn't have that function.

This would be so amazing. Just a push notification stating turn left on X street and continue for Y miles would be huge. Not sure if there's any way to mirror Google's walking navigation features (realize I'm over-simplifying) but this would be massive to my Strava experience.
