Integrate races into Strava: race sign-ups, race events, race challenges, race feeds

It would be great if Strava offered the opportunity to sign-up for events/races within Strava and then others could see the upcoming events that they're training for. This would benefit Strava as well, as they would presumably get a cut of entries fees as the hosting platform.

It still would be nice to have the ability to add an event or race to our profile and to curate our training activities to it. 

Feature

• To be able to add an event (race) similarly to how a member can add "shoes". The event can have a specific date, even corral to a public or group event (i.e. Boston Marathon) or be completely private.
• The timeline can see "Johnny has created 'Boston Marathon 2025' event" they have the ability to give kudos to it. (The kudos tells your algorithm that the followers will be interested in seeing related posts from this member).
• Every time Johnny does a workout he can decide to tag the event to it. 
• Like a typical social media hashtag, a user can see all activities related to that event.

Enhanced Event Integration on Strava

Proposal:

• Direct Event Integration: Allow users to directly link registered races to their Strava profiles.
  • Example: After registering for the Oakland Half Marathon, users can find the event on Strava and sign up for it similar to how they can for a challenge. The event has a specific date.
  • On user profile page, there can be a status such as "Currently Training For: Oakland Half Marathon" and "Past Events: ______" that links to the event.
• Activity Tagging for Events: Enable users to categorize activities as training for specific events.
  • Example: Instead of general tags like "Long Run," users can tag activities as training for the Oakland Half Marathon.
• Dedicated Event Feeds: Create a dedicated feed for each event, similar to existing challenges.
  • Example: A feed specific to the Oakland Half Marathon would allow users to connect with other participants and share training updates.
• Race Day Feed: On the day of the race, provide a dedicated feed for all registered participants.
  • Example: Users can see who else participated in the race and share race-day experiences.

Benefits:

• Improved User Experience: Offers a centralized platform for event-related activities.
• Enhanced Social Interaction: Fosters a stronger community among event participants.
• Better Training Management: Helps users track progress and stay motivated.
• Increased Engagement: Encourages more active participation in the Strava community.

By implementing these features, Strava can become an even more valuable tool for runners and athletes preparing for races.

Hello,

I would like Strava to add the Annual Race/Event calendar functionality so that:
- Each user can add his/her annual Race/Event calendar
- Each user can see the calendar of his/her followed users
- Optional: Each user can see his/her followed users that have the same event in their annual calendar.

I would like to be able to add my upcoming events to my profile rather than setting a "goal". This would allow my followers to see my upcoming events and allow me to see what events I have coming up to help with training. Would be great to see event name, date event is on and goal time.

When you refer to "events" are you talking about Club events, external events (upcoming races, etc.) or something else?

Hello. I was referring to external events such as the Boston Marathon, Dublin Marathon etc.  The below is how I have manually added it into my bio but would be great to have a dedicated section for upcoming events. Thanks.

@crowe42 it would be amazing to see it on our friends profile with:

• Dates and event names with either
  • A clickable link to the event (Strava could be sponsored by events organizers to add their events) giving more details
  • A manual entry for events that have not their own "event page" on Strava
• See how many and which friends plan to participate to the same event(s)

It shouldn't be too complex to implement all my friends are asking for it.
@Jane  any idea if it can be implemented and how much time it would require?
