Suggestion:
Introduce an option to mark activities as "Low Priority" or "Low Importance" upon uploading. This feature would allow users to categorize their activities, ensuring that only their most noteworthy workouts (such as personal bests, races, or significant achievements) appear in their followers' feeds.

Benefits:

  1. Enhanced User Experience: Users can keep (or default) their less significant activities out of their followers' feeds, making it easier for friends and followers to spot and celebrate major achievements.

  2. Increased Engagement: By allowing users to highlight their best performances, it encourages more meaningful interactions and kudos on key activities.

  3. Maintain Public Records: Unlike setting all activities to private or entire profiles to private, this feature would still allow all activities to contribute to challenges, segments, and personal records without cluttering the feed with routine workouts.

Implementation:
Users can tag an activity as "Low Priority" during the upload process. Activities not tagged would default to appearing in followers' feeds as usual, while "Low Priority" activities would be visible only on the user's profile or upon direct link sharing.
Alternatively, users could default everything to low priority and use an "I'm proud of this" tag for significant activities, such as achieving a PB, completing a race, or exploring a new location.

This simple yet effective feature would help athletes manage their presence on Strava more precisely, enhancing the overall community experience - and making the whole thing feel less 'spammy'.

Hi @chrisdearnley

Thanks so much for this post.  Good news - this feature already exists on Strava.   Athletes can "mute" activities from either the Web or Mobile App which prevents them from appearing on Followers Home or Club Feeds.

Find out more here

Thanks again.

@Jane- Hi Jane, yeah I didn't see that option before.  It would be great if we could default activities to 'muted' and then selectively unmute them?   It would achieve the same as my proposal.

Hi @chrisdearnley

We do have an existing idea submission for that.  Check it out here and we'd welcome your vote (kudos) and any additional comments you would like to add.
