On trail running I normally tap on each week to see how much elevation did I gain however I don’t get an overview like the number of kilometers as is the only metric that gets plotted on the profile chart. It would be nice, at least for trail running that elevation can be selected as the primary metric to be plotted because some runners do train based on that parameter as opposed to number of kilometers

Hi there, thanks for submitting this suggestion. There's a workaround to see your weekly elevation for Trail Running if you have a Subscription. You can set a weekly elevation goal for the Sport Type in question and it will track your progress week over week, showing the past 12 weeks. As you progress, it will plot your elevation on the goal progress graph -- this will not appear in the main progress tab's chart, but right below it, in the "Goals" section.

You can read more about setting goals here: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216918687-Goals-on-Strava

That’s a good point, thanks! But perhaps that’s something to consider anyway since in Trail Running (at least in my case) I track my progress as the elevation gained week by week without having to necessarily to have a goal if that make sense.

Considering the information is already there, available, seems to me like a “little” toggle in your preferences for that sport to show one metric or the other.

Having to have a goal to track this is fine, but from the user experience point of view it looks to me like something should be configurable for athletes - i would consider it 😀

Given your point, we've reconsidered and have opened this idea for voting.
For some background context, it used to be possible to select elevation on the y-axis as the main criteria to be displayed for elevation-pertinent Sport Types, but due to some backend complications, it was removed. If this idea gains traction we could consider enabling this again.
