I’m probably not the first suggesting this, but it would be so great if it was possible to distinguish between running and running with a stroller. This also goes for other sports like riding with a bike trailer, skiing with a sled and hiking with a baby carrier. Maybe it could be solved with a simple box where you could check of for carried weight to an activity? That would make it possible also to mark runs with weight vests, hikes with heavy backpacks and so on. The main aim for this application should be that activities with added weight don’t mess up your stats, and it would also be nice to be able to compare stroller runs etc. As a new parent it can be challenging to priorities the time to work out, so a little motivation boost from Strava would be highly appreciated 🙂

I LOVE this idea! As a new mom trying to get back to running, I think this could be so motivating and would really help distinguish my pace changes of running solo versus pushing my toddler. Please strongly consider this Strava!

I just created a profile only to thumbs up this idea. Everyone reading this should do the same.

Please add a new sport option for stroller runs and trailer bike rides. Then add weight of the child(ren) and weight of the stroller or trailer. This should then translate to a new gap pace or speed/power output. Fitness and fatigue would then change as well.

This idea exists already: https://communityhub.strava.com/t5/ideas/stroller-running-and-sports-with-extra-weight-in-general/id...

Fitness and fatigue wouldn't change by the way because they depend on your heart rate, not on speed or GAP or estimated power.

Absolutely! I've been Buggy Running for over 7 years ago. Garmin allows you to add extra gear and then you can specify.

Maybe some advice/posts about safe buggy running too 🙂

Buggy running please. It might even be a way of getting more people involved post natally because seeing your speed drop by so much is a bit off putting

Yes! It really annoys me that it looks like my pace has dipped on my routes, but it's just because it's solo Vs buggy running. Definitely need to add buggy/trailer etc as an option.

Agree! I totally leave my watch behind at the minute because I’m really not fussed about the data, but if this was a feature I’d be using strava way more! …pregnancy could also be included with this.
Years of reduced use/engagement with Strava otherwise (I only saw this from a buggy running FB group, don’t normally hang out here)

Just loving how my Garmin is telling me my hill score is weak when I’m pushing a stroller and child I can’t account for up the hill while running…someone go first…Strava you be it! Hopefully Garmin follows suit.

I would love an option to mark when I’m running with a buggy!!

Especially when I run with our double buggy (Thule Chariot 2) I think it’s approx an extra 45-50kg to push so it’s pretty significant!!

As a mum, please could we have an option to select pushing a buggy.

I love taking my little boy out with me but it’s hard work, my steps don’t log the same and it’s very stop/start at times. I know sports watches can cope with some of this but being able to look at my normal stats vs a buggy run stats would be helpful.

buggy running is already excluded from so much in terms of races.
so it be great for Strava to acknowledge all those parents/family members running with young children.

Yes!!! Pushing a child in a stroller is a very different run than without! I’m sure it burns more calories and the time is certainly impacted especially on very hilly and steep routes!! I’d love a box to check to have a different line of comparison for stroller runs vs. running on my own!! It is brilliant to do the same for pulling a bike trailer and hiking with a child carrier and such!
Thank you!!

Agreed and also to be able to list a buggy under equipment like shoes and bikes would be ideal.

A lot of us are, or at some point will become parents. We want to continue our active lifestyle by taking our child(eren) along in a trailer on a ride, run or even cross country skiing. Taking a trailer means dragging substantial amount of extra weight and slower average speeds. It would be nice to indicate your activity was done with a bike trailer. As a bonus you would also be able to track the milage of the trailer and your kids stats (never too early to start).

Carrying a child in a bike seat or trailer, or pushing a stroller while running, adds significant extra effort.
The same goes for carrying touring load while cycling or skiing.

Rolling resistance or aerodynamic impact is complicated, but the extra weight is simple.

Please add a field for "extra weight" to activities. This could be included in power estimates for cyclists, and may be applicable to effort estimates for other activities.
