Around 1 in 5 people have a disability, which often limits their access to activities - such as cycling, mountain biking, and commuting on public transport.

There is currently a mix of activity types on Strava, which may be used by people with impairments or disabilities. These include:
- Ride

- E-Bike Ride

- Handcycle

- Wheelchair

I propose that Strava adds a feature similar to “Commute” which would enable users with impairments (disabilities) to signal they have undertaken that activity with a Disability or Impairment. This would enable disability advocacy groups to show the usage of trails, facilities and infrastructure relative to other groups.

It is well established that poeple with impairments (disabilities) undertake a range of activites using a variety of standard, modified, or specific equipment. Because of this, the existing “Handcycles” or “Wheelchairs” categories are not fit for purpose and it is not possible to use those categories to get useage insights.

Brilliant idea- with the economy as it is, councils, cities, governments, charities have less money for infrastructure improvements. information like this will enable them to focus their efforts in order to make the most impact to people. People who want to get out and enjoy more of the World, but are blocked physical hurdles. Often hurdles that are overlooked and simple to remove. This data will show where there is a demand and a need.

I second this. I often feel that Strava is quite exclusionary to disabled people; it's hard to find condition specific groups too and if you find them, they're usually for one activity only anyway! Having that tag available (as well as on mobile!) could help disabled people feel more included as it could help them to find other disabled athletes and to show able bodied athletes that they've achieved something (no matter how small) despite their disability.

Agree. As an active Strava runner I will now be on crutches for the next 6 months, maybe longer. It would be helpful to have a way to indicate that a run was complete with crutches or at least with a physical disability.

I think it would be nice to have an option in profile instead of marking an activity as disabled manually.

Is the wheelchair or handcycle activity only available for Apple? I use Android and installed the Strava free version and wheelchairs are not a listed option. If it works for me, I want to to the paid membership.

I do agree with the commute option. I'm in a motorized chair, but if I take transit it means that I'm going somewhere far and it is also something that I cannot do most of the time. So I would like to be able to track when I can do it. I love my wheelchair, she is my freedom and I now can do things I couldn't before. But it doesn't magickally negate my fatigue, lack of stamina or the physical repercussions. So for me, taking transit or traveling is significant and I too think we should have that option. Peace.
