As spring rapidly approaches in the alpine I sometimes struggle to get reliable beta on whether a specific route or trail is sufficiently melted to justify a long drive somewhere to attempt. Suggestion is to allow users to track a segment to get a notification/email for when the segment is completed with a link to the activity.
On Strava this is possible if you've completed the segment already or by digging deep on the computer but forces you to be very proactive. Right now for me I get information primarily though local social media groups and via the friends/athletes followed on Strava in my own network. I believe this will not only democratize access (and of course individuals can set their sharing settings differently if they so choose) as well as drive more eco-conscious choices to avoid routes that are not passable.
